  2. Hi all, I had planned to some stream fishing on Wednesday. However, after a late start on Wednesday morning I decided instead to help out to Thommos Creek to salvage what was left of my day off. I saw the forecast for light wind and overcast conditions, I like a bit of wind at TCD it seems to bring ‘em on the bite. I got to the dam gates at just after 1pm, I met these two fishos who were on the way back to the car. They said it was slow going and they had not had any hits at all. I was still confident. I headed out to the Eastern side and eventually found an area that looked good, difficult to find spots with the water level so high. First half an hour was quiet and I lost a few lures in the snags, sent out a sloppy cast and on the way back almost at my feet and I got a hit. He went deep and couldn’t see him for a while, he eventually surfaced and it was the biggest brown I’ve even hooked. I managed to beach him, he went 63cm and really nice colours. I changed lures after that to a lighter colour and the very next cast I was on again. This time a nice Rainbow, she gave a real good account of herself, several long runs and nice aerials. I got one more Rainbow after that before the southerly really picked up at just after 4.30 so I decided to pack up and leave early. I real cracker of a day, even though I was only there for a short while. Enjoy the photos. Cheers, Al.
  3. Hi everyone, I hit TCD on Wednesday 29th Sep. After reading the weather reports over the past two weeks I decided that this was the day. I got to the gates round 1 in the afternoon and made my way round the back of the western side of the dam. I couldn’t find too many fishable spots till I got right round where the old quarry is. I started fishing just after 2pm, first hour I didn’t get any hits or follows, I moved further up a little and on the first cast I hooked onto a nice rainbow. He put up a decent fight, took a bit of line off me and after a few minutes I managed to get him to the bank, a fat solid Jack with really nice markings. I moved a little further up the bank and on the next cast something hit my lure like a freight train, I couldn’t believe how much line was being taken. I remember thinking “this must be huge” and just then it spat the hook. Shame, would have been a PB for sure. For the next hour or so it was pretty quiet and uneventful. I started to walk back to the car and thought I would try out this spot that I noticed on the way in. Second cast at said spot and I was on, this fish also seemed very heavy and was doing a lot more than the jack I had caught earlier. By the way the fish was fighting I picked it for a hen. I eventually got her to shore, she gave a really good account of herself. So I managed a very decent pair for the day, I did not weigh or measure the fish they were both returned to fight another day. I would estimate that they were both over 60cm in length. It turned out to be a very decent afternoon, I’m thinking of hitting Lyell next. The back end of that damn is also pretty good at the moment. Cheers, hope you enjoy the photos. Al
  4. Hi everyone, since moving over from NZ I've only fished the dams. IE, Oberon, Lyell and TCD. I would love to do some river fishing as well, if anyway can also provide any info as to access point I would really appreciate it. Thanks Al
