  1. I've been fishing Manly Dam a bit recently. No sign of any fish, possibly a bit cold with water temperature at 13C. I do only fly though. Not really possible to walk around the dam. The Western side accessed from Manly Vale is the best option, the Eastern side is accessed from Allambie via a short dirt track, lots of locals use this side as an off-leash dog area.
  2. Never had any luck on fly and always blowing a gale. The short area for fishing access also is not friendly to fly casting.
  3. I went up to Manly Dam for a look at the water release. It's a the highest level I've ever seen it. I should have taken the camera. Very murky in the dam. Unfortunately no time to have a wander down stream towards the lagoon. Also unfortunately the outlet valve is a pipe directed back towards the front of the wall of the dam. It'd be a tough fish that survived being spat out of the pipe into the wall.
  4. A bit late I guess, but for next time, there's Manly Dam. During school holidays and weekends you would need to book a BBQ area, if you want a BBQ you might need to book anyway. Clontarf is a great spot, plenty for kids and a kiosk, but parking charges, same with Balmoral. I've seen Kinges amongst the boats at Clontarf, and often see a rise from the bus crossing the Spit bridge of the morning.
