  3. Hey Coasty you just reminded me back in 80's we use to do power pack all the time, was pretty dear, until we got a queensland bloke that could repair and re seal them.

    Regards Rick.

I went through two and replaced several coils on an old evinrude, got sick of it and just got myself a 2010 70hp tohatsu, couldnt justify spending any more on the old girl.

  4. Mate i went through the same ordeal, and yep the battery strength plays a big part for start up on the older motors,i had tryed to start on rather flat battery would turn fly wheel but would not fire, then recharged battery and boom, away she went,i was evn advised dont know how true it is but the volt difference you put out with a semi flat battery can also damage your stator+coils or power pack dont know how true but better safe then sorry, good luck buddy,

  5. You can just as easy take the old hub with you as easy to remove, you can tell the difference just by site between the HQ and HJ,they are considerabley different, they normally come with hub and bearing kits,it isnt much more money for the lot, just letting you know what i went through myself:thumbup:

  6. yep i renamed my boat it was named ,now brace yourself,"Sea Beaver":074: ,and it was pinky purple colour,so being a bloke i felt compelled to rename and paint.I think the next owner will be pleased also, didnt do any sacrafices but i gathered repainting it and all other work deemed it not the same boat, thats my theory any way,LOL:1prop:

  7. Thanks ,was onto the filler stuff,I will flow coat it as you said, today i painted with resin letting dry will put in boat tomorrow and will get that flow coat you recommend, thinking of carpeting it later.will post pics. And yes i did not let the kids near it when cutting and am aware of hazards cheers

  8. Thanks Raiders, just wondering was still thinking of going with the marine ply as one hardware store has sheets for $60 andanother store has sheets for $300,so will just stick the marine and cover it as well, and for the corners i actually just got mychisel and cleaned up the corners, will ask fibre glassing place about the correct gap filler ect, thanks.
