  1. Mate I would love a dollar for every hour I have chased jews. If possible, look for a gutter on low tide, they stand out more, so you know where you need to be when you hit the beach. I find my spot during the day, lucky to live and work on the coast, fresh squid caught that day and hit the beach as the sun is going down. I have success fishing when there is minimal tide movement.(smallest rise in the water from low to high) and near a headland if possible. On my local beach I have best success on the change of the tide, to high and the next 2 hours. Mate if you use FRESH bait, minimal tidal movement in a gutter near headland or rocky area at night you have to be in with more than half a chance ....... and did I mention shitloads of patients/persistence. Tight Lines
  2. Have been catching some huge squid the last couple of weeks
  3. Hi Zac, i chase squid at Terrigal around the haven and the rocks. Not good conditions at the moment. Cheers John
  4. I find early morning, late arvo going dark with clear water to be the best time. I have never had much luck when its windy or strong current. Natural colours and yakka (look alike) jigs is all i use along with Egimax spray and catch plenty in the right conditions.Have never used bright colours, pinks etc. Also, where i squid which opens out to the ocean, if the water is stirred up and not clear after big seas i dont waste my time. Squid only have a short life span, spawn in warmer months and grow quick. There are plenty of big buggers around at the moment. Cheers
  5. Well done mate. What beach did you fish? I have been hitting Wamby without any luck.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, i currently use an egg beater but it seems the alvey is a popular choice. How are they for casting out big baits. The rod i recently got is a Diawa Surf tournament master 14foot which is a great rod. Cheers
  7. Gday Raiders, Looking at buying a new beach reel and would love some feedback on some good options. Dont mind paying for quality gear. Mainly to chase jews off the beach. Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

  9. Gday everyone, Just wondering if any Central Coast Beach fishos have been catching much. More so at night for jews. Caught some fresh squid yesterday and heading out tonight and over the next few days leading up to new moon. Look forward to any feedback. Cheers
  10. Gday, I live on the central coast and do alot of beach fishing ,definately no expert, but once i find a good gutter i will fish around 20-50mtr to the side of gutter. If current is running sth along beach i will be on nth side & vise versa. Thats the way i do it & i go ok. I generally only fish couple of hours either side of high, but any time is a good time to fish, having a line in the water is what its all about. Cheers
  11. Gday mate, What have you been catching at Putty beach.I was there late Thursday for a few hours armed with fresh squid and caught nothing.

  19. Gday Raiders, I have been hitting the beach around this new moon period armed with fresh caught squid, fishing up to & past change of high tide at night. Mainly fishing a nice gutter of Wamby/Terrigal & all im catching is sharks, sharks & more sharks with the odd salmon. Is there anyone out there having any luck catching any jewies off the beaches on the central coast? Would like to get some feedback on how others are going. Thanks.

  21. Gday Josh, If your girlfriend is willing to go fishing on Valentines Day rather than go out for a romantic dinner the only advice i could give you is ..MARRY HER..Good luck mate
  22. Hi all.I have really enjoyed reading all the info all of you post in regarding the mighty jew.I live on the central coast and fish mainly Wamberal & Entrance beaches. There is nothing better for me than going to the beach late in the arvo/early evening with a few cold ones a feed and the family. As we live 5 mins to beach, taking both cars is a must so when its time to get serious the family go home and i get set up for what usually ends up an allnighter. For me i only use fresh squid & mullet that i have caught within the last 48 hours. The mullet i butterfly and use whole and are a great bait, especially around the time of the mullet run, around March/April. The squid, depending on size will go on whole, big strips or a big squid head is gun bait. I use 30lb mono,i prefer mono to braid off the beach as it has more stretch and lets you pull in the fish a bit easier when they are close to shore. About 2mtr of 50lb floro leader with a running sinker clip,so you can change weight easily depending on current, to a swivel clip. From there i have all my rigs made up and ready to go with a swivel on each to clip on and off as you need them. You often lose gear to the sharks fishing at night.I use sliding twin hooks 7 o. I have found that fishing from the top of the tide, with the first 1-2 hours of the run out being the most productive. All my decent fish have been caught within this 2 hour period, and every time its enough to keep me their for hours after that. All of my fishing takes place at night. You hear to tee up tide changes with sunset/sunrise, but for me it makes no differance if its sunset or midnight. Regarding the moon phases, i have found that the waxing (new to full)moon works best for me, especially leading up to the full moon. I keep a pretty good record of conditions, times etc. I have a copy of the "Anglers Almanac" and have got to say is very good with predicted days & times.Strongly recommend to get one and learn how to use it. Still to crack the 10kg+ fish off the beach, plenty around the 5kg mark. Put in plenty of time catching fresh bait and endless hours wait for that smash & grab. Love my jew beach fishing sessions i know there is a big one out there with my name on it, but as with all other jew fishos you have to be patient.Lucky for me when it comes to fishing i have plenty of that. Keep the reels screaming.
  23. FISHED THE HAVEN ON THE WEEKEND,BONITO A COUPLE OF BIG TAILOR AND PLENTY OF LEADIES..GREAT FUN. GO GET INTO THEM.
  24. HEY GUYS THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK. WILL DEFINATELY TRY THE ENTRANCE HAVE HEARD THAT BEFORE,ANY ADDED INFO ON THE ENTRANCE BEACH WOULD BE GREAT.WAMBY IS CLOSE TO HOME AND EASY TO GET TO SO WILL KEEP HITTING THERE.TERRIGAL HAVEN IS A TOP SQUID SPOT. WATER MUST BE CLEAN AND TRY THE RUN UP TIDE IS BEST. NATURAL SQUID JIGS WORK THE BEST FOR ME.CAST OUT OFF THE ROCKS TOWARDS THE CHARTER BOATS.CHEERS
