  1. Hi Everyone, just recently got a tld 25 for christmas and was wondering if anyone could recommed me a size for a rod to get to use land based? also whats a good one that wont break the bank? the reel came with a 5"6 rod and i was using it on the weekend while fishing avoca land base and seems abit too small, if anyone could recommend anything that'll be great. fishes i'll be targeting are mainly kingies and whatever else i can get. cheers Daniel
  2. thanks for the info guys, looks like i'll be getting some of the 12" prerigged. cheers Daniel
  3. Hi everyone, Planning on getting some slug-go's soon to try and catch some kingies, can anyone recommend what the best size is and what colour. I'll be mainly using these spinning landbase as i dont have a boat. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance cheers Daniel
  4. I spin with a saltist 4500 matched up with a 10ft Penn Spinfisher Big Game Surf rod and I love spinning with it, it's a really nice setup too. But is the saltist itself is almost close to your budget. If you willing to spend more i'd recommed it.
  5. was down there aswell on the same day, 3 of us started spinning at 7am and left by 8.30am taking home 20 bonnies. would of had alot more but we started chucking them back.
  6. Hi Everyone, just wondering if anyone has fished Avoca recently and had much luck? planning to maybe head out there tomorrow possibly chasing for kingies land base. just wanna know if it's worth heading up that way otherwise i might head down south. cheers Daniel
  7. i was there aswell, damn the waves were hektic. yeh i saw that undersized kingie aswell, felt like chucking it back in but it was already dead. me and my mate ended up catching 2 bonito and 3 salmon. bonito weren't out for some reason, everyone was catching salmon.
  8. thanks for the help everyone, ended up changing the reel back to a saltist. abit heavier then some other reels but i'll live.
  9. Hi Marty, i did try the oceano 4500 and it seemed alright aswell with the setup but i was talked into the daiwa advantage. do you spin with your oceano? whats your view on it for spinning? cheers Daniel
  10. change of plans with reels, was trying the saltist 4500 with the Penn Spinfisher Big Game 10ft rod and the reels seems abit heavy as the rod is quite light. I was talked into the daiwa advantage 4000 and bought it, seems to feel real nice with the Penn spinfisher rod and the setup feels nice and light so i wont get tired spinning. did i make the right choice with this setup? as the shop said I can bring back the reel if i decide to change my mind. this setup will be spinning for kingies if anyone can advise if this setup is alright that'll be great. cheers Daniel
  11. all good, yeh have a lighter setup for spinning for smaller fish but this setup is for when i go jervis bay, dont wanna go there with light gear and rather have the right gear to handle the big fish so i dont loose them.
  12. can anyone recommend any specific brand of braid for this setup? im planning on running 40lbs as i already have 20lbs on my light spinning setup as i want this to be my heavier setup
  13. thanks for the info everyone, looks like i'll be matching my Penn Spinfisher Big Game 10ft rod with a daiwa saltist 4500.
  14. ok so i went out and bought a Penn Spinfisher Big Game 10ft rod today so i can use to spin, love it it's so light and have heard good things about it and was also cheap too. now i'm not sure what reel to get, can someone recommend me a reel or should i stick with original idea of getting the saltist 4500? this setup will be mainly for spinning as i have a shimano baitrunner for bait fishing and live baiting. butget for a reel is between $250 to $350 any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance. cheers Daniel
  15. forgot to add that i'll be mainly spinning land base, with the sizes of the rod what should i be going for?
