  1. Hi mate, I lived in Umina from 1991 - 2002, F3 was more congested in those days prior to the widening (especially Friday nights). Over that time commuted on average 80km door to door = 160kms per day = 800kms per week. Had enough after 10 years to be honest. One question - do you have kids? Particularly small kids? You'll be leaving pretty early and getting home pretty late if you're both travelling to Sydney and back.

Spent my late teenage years up there and wasn't much to do in those days, not sure what it's like for teenagers these days. Train it if you can.

  2. Hi Stewy,

As a potential future Polyboat owner (looking at the 4.5 Frontrunner with 60HP 4 stroke) can I ask how much those trim tabs cost, not looking for specific sellers (at this stage) just a ball park figure and whether you sourced locally or OS. Also were they a simple home installation or needed to be professionally fitted?

    Thanks

  3. I was once involved in an accident while towing my boat on the F3. Only my car and trailer were damaged though. Car insured with Shannons, BMT package insured with Club Marine.

Originally wanted to claim through Shannons but was told they only cover the trailer up to $1000 but at the time had no idea how much the trailer repairs would cost (ended up being $750) so put it through Club Marine. Found out that unlike car insurers though, Club Marine slug you the excess up front and then try and claim back from the other party's insurer.

In the end Club Marine wasn't able to prove that the other party was at fault, even though Shannons could, so I couldn't get my excess back. Won't be going back to them out of principle from now on.

But I was covered when towing.

  4. PM sent.

When I tried Huett's approx 3 months ago Craig couldn't help me at the time.

I had mine replaced (4.8 cuddy) for $600 but that was with me dismantling it and taking it to the place to get replaced and then re-fitting it myself.

    Good luck

  5. I lived in Umina from 1990 - 2001 (aged 15-26) and commuted to Sydney for most of that, education as well as work. This was before the upgrades to the F3 meaning that traffic was worse back then.

As a parent you would put up with the daily commute but after 10 years it got to me and later settled in Sydney (mind you I'm considering relocating to Port Macquarie next year). I found as a teenager growing up pretty boring for the area but you probably get that everywhere. It's where I developed my love for fishing though and Brissie Waters was (and still is) a great place to fish.

    Good luck with the move.

  6. I did this last year. Both boat and trailer had current Qld rego.

Didn't have to get the boat weighed but did have to get it measured by a boat dealer (took it up to Huett Marine).

Trailer had to get brand new NSW rego plates. It took me a while to find a place to do this but in the end Manell Motors (a 4x4 accessory shop) at Thornleigh were one of the authorised places.

I needed new boat rego stickers as well.

I wouldn't want to go through the process again as it was a pain.
