  1. It amazes me why you would eat that. Dioxins?
  2. I really don't understand why people eat fish from the Parramatta river or any where west of the bridge. Plus eating a fish that size and that old it must be filled with dioxins.
  3. I wouldn't eat fish from there if i were you.
  4. I still wouldn't eat the fish if I were you. Who knows what health problems you might suffer as a result.
  5. Gianniz I suspect that most people would know that there are size and bag limits. It’s not a new law that’s been around a few years like fishing licences. So I’d seriously find it difficult to believe those who fish regularly and not know about size limits. On a different note. At least those who take undersize fish have no idea. They tend to use a brick as a snicker, a huge hook, a million pound line, a million pound rod and a massive reel. Just imagine if these people knew how to fish.
  6. I’ve only ever seen fisheries on the water and only been checked once. I’ve never seen them on land but that’s were I believe most of the irresponsibly fishing takes place. If fisheries were serious they would hire more staff and start fining land based fisherman. I’d suggest fisheries start with Pier Two in the city and Ballast Point.
  7. Just to paint the picture of the SOME people who gather on Cabarita Wharf at night are best described as. Those who swear, intimidate, fight, leave rubbish, have no fishing licence and take undersize fish. I’m sure I’ve missed a few other things. Though I won’t suggest that is everyone who goes fishing on the wharf. It’s only a few. However, people like this show up enough for residents like myself and the council to propose closure to the wharfs to fishing. Also as many people have said before these people should be fined would not work. First of all the police aren’t going to do anything and when they do it’s because of a noise complaint, fighting or for other illegal activities. The fisheries won’t come for fear of being bash and nor will the council rangers do anything for the same reason. By closing the wharfs the council will hopefully remove these people from the local area. Also by the looks of things Fezza you live in the Central Coast. I live in the local area this ban effects. I have to deal with the knowledge that the wharf where I catch my ferry from had double stabbing a bashing last year. For me it’s a worry every time I catch a late night ferry home. I hope my council rates go towards paying for a gate that is locked and only open for ferry users. I’d be interested to hear from other Canada Bay residents have to say. To reiterate it’s only a few people that do the wrong thing. Unfortunately for residents in Canada Bay who use the wharfs and live close to the wharfs it’s something we shouldn’t have to put up with. Hopefully closing the wharfs to fishing will make Canada Bay a safer place.
  8. I catch the ferry. Those who don't live in an area where there is an option of using the ferries don't understand the problems faced by those of us who use the ferry. The feeling of most people in the local area is to close the wharfs to fishing because of the filth and the low life’s that gather on wharfs. To those that don't live in Canada Bay and travel miles to fish here. Tuff luck you'll just have to go somewhere else. We've had enough. Anyway last time I checked this wasn’t a free country. Everyone has rights. But you also have responsibilities. Unfortunately the few that have done the wrong thing have ruined fishing for the majority.
  9. I've had a lot of success using gulp minnow grub (watermelon). Another soft plastic to think about is the damiki monster miki. Also think about having a go with blades.
  10. I live in Canada Bay Council and I believe closing the wharfs to fishing in my area is the way to go. Like most people have already suggested those who fish from the wharfs generally leave a mess. But they are also the type of people who don’t have a fishing licence and take under size fish. Unfortunately on the wharfs at night there have been instances of anti social behaviour. Last year on Cabarita wharf two men were stabbed and one was bashed. For locals like me these places are no go zones at night. I’d like to see wharfs closed and only open to those travelling on the ferry. For one I won’t have to stand because of the filth covering the seats. Nor will I have to share a wharfs with rubbish and people who resemble rubbish. Hopefully a gate is erected and is only open during the hours that the ferries operate.
