north narrabeen on a run out tide near the lake entrance is worth a try
-
yeh i think it is
god bless global warming!
-
was someone holding your leg at the time they told you this?
lets say alcohol may have been involved
and after catching them i still cant deny it!
they do seem to fight UPWARDS!
-
seems you knew better and didnt listen to yaself
next time take ya mate to the pub
if in doubt give it a miss is my go
still glad ya ok sorta
cheers
-
just thought id let yas know
mate went of northbridge sailing club last weekend [middle harbour]
one live yakka = one 65cm king
lesson learnt
Get ya baitfish first
the prowling 70-90cm king scared the baby jesus outa the yakkas
no more yakkas no more kings
Catch ya live bait first
lol

im planning to go to Waratah bay should be there by dusk
little 4.6mt streaker half cabin "Hawkwind"
come say hello
BYO lol
-
last year this time we headed out for the night [wife said wed be backin an hour it was about 10degrees]
advance thinking told me to take a tarp along and we found that throwing it over the bimini canvas and securing it down turned my little 4.6mt half cabin into a nice one bedroom bedsit
im sure the rum helped and our offgassing but we were surprisingly warm allnite
oh and the offgassing didnt seem to deter the fish
i did forget we had thermos on but i think the rum negated my memory [they were only $20 from rays]
if ya can keep out the breeze its actually beeeutiful!
-
yeh it gets dark out there
suggest you head in to the bay a bit find a deep hole 15mts or so and settle in 10mts is actually shallow around there
waratah is also good
funnily enough if ya get out of the wind it stays rather warm [thanks to mr bundy]
oh and going by that mighty sounder pic [wish my was that flash]
i would add ive been led to believe hairtail swim vertical not horizontal which may equate to all those readings i could be a fool though!
-
for the novices! me being one
hairtail rig that worked for us last year was 3-5kg line to a 12-18inch wire trace with 3-4 gangs dependant on pilly size
we attached a green glow stick but ive heard red work best [cant say either way]
if needed a a weight above trace to get it down
i really should get my 9yr old to tell you he caught em all even though we all had the same rigs
his idea was let dad bait it
let dad cast it
wake up when dad screamed
and just wind the sukker in!
im gonna hit Waratah this saturday and try and get a 2 mt specimen
watch out for hawkwind if ya out
cheers
-
you beauty
gotta go try my lobster hole
dont even get wet just lure em out with some pilly and net em

took me young lad up to kangaroo pt wharf tonite well from 6-8pm
landed some small squire/flathead/flounder and tailor
fish were coming on as we left
guys next to us bagged 2 flattys 45cm plus within 10 minutes of showing
they also mentioned that last saturday some guys were catching heaps of school jew around 5kg on squid
gonna hit it up again for an allniter in a few weeks
small ? are throw nets legal in nsw
the guys near us used one to grab some baitfish
i know years ago they were illegal has this changed !
oh and the servo prawns are a bloody disgrace atm
-
narrabeen lake is still closed at the entrance
id reckon an evening near the road bridge/caravan park could be quite good with all the dredging /sand removal they are doing
and yes not a good idea eating fish up the river around balmain etc
heavy metal suicide
-
lol mine was a 15cm flatty with a 10cm hardbody lure about 15years ago
he was obviously a very hungry very aggressive little bugger
i was lolloling as i unhooked and released him knowing that with an attitude like that he probably wouldnt last long
-
well as for prawning Full moon is usually a waste of time
would you like to have to stand out like a beacon to all your enemies as you raced for freedom?
i think fish are a little the same
so full moons for me mean fishing deep often with bigger baits
full moons also mean larger high/low tides or at least i think more depth between high/low
so great for water movement but more current
ive usually had great luck for pelagics ]tailor] on a full moon
but less luck for your bream flatty etc
cant talk about jews cause i still havnt landed one lol
please gurus correct me if im wrong
cheers
ps never give up

1500 seems a bit rich!

Hey mate there are heaps in Parramatta river up where Parra park is, not really in the south west but i can guarantee they are there. I usually fish there once a week using corn ( has to be edgell super sweet ) or a dough mix is working really well at the moment with mulberries, maple syrup, flour, corn flour brown sugar and tinned corn juice to get the consistency right. I've caught and released heaps around the 70-80cm mark so i know they are there.
Ben
i thought it was illegal to release carp
they are a bloody pest
catch kill bury

should of tried at the back of lion island or headed up to the rail bridge
-
top fish
thats acroos the road from mother in laws place
maybe time for a visit [and a fish]
-
i actually launch at appletree all the time but i do live at mt colah and have a park pass
if your on the xpressway mooney mooney is only 10 or so mins past mt colah/bobbin head exit and it takes nearly that to drive down to appletree anyway
plus if your planning to fish dangar/road bridges etc or even go down to lion island car fuel is cheaper than boat fuel
-
surely those little tiddlers should have gone back
Cmon you are in the NT
nice fish you B@#@Tard
-
rear of lion island is a hot spot
apart from shelter from the swell good flathead /and of course tailor/kings/salmon
also a good chance for jews and the odd snapper
-
both are good but mooney mooney with the new wharf is the go
plus mooney is quicker all round
