  3. Hi mate Peeled prawns have worked for us,no sinker only a swivel and 4-6kg line on a small rod,our other rods with sinkers cought not a thing.make sure u berley well and back off your drag and slowly let out line to keep it drifting naturaly in the current. Maybe you have a better way but this seems to work for me. I'll try again 2moro to post pics. Good luck on your next fishin trip. Penguin.
  4. Hi raiders, Fished the bay Tues 21st with my 2 regular fishing buddys Bill and George.Started off at Molli pt and got zilch, small jackets were everywhere and attackin any thing we lowered into the water including soft plastics, takin little bite size chunks out of em. They were like Pirahnas. We moved to our fav spot near the 3rd runway and within 2mins I had a 28cm Bream on board.5 mins later Im onto a king as I get him to the boat,I look ova my shoulder and Fisheries have pulled up alongside us ,and ping my line snaps. After a quick check of our licences, and being told u dont catch Kings on prawns they were off.All was quite 4 about half an hr when, zzzzzzzz George is on he calls it a King then, zzzzzzz im on,I call it a King also.Bill is running around pullin in the other rods and trying to avoid us.George lands a 58cm King and 5 mins later I land a 65cm specimen, both caught on peeled prawns.Smaller King is released, ova the next hour we landed 3 more Bream (28-37cm)and 8 Trevors (28-39cm)and this weird lookin long (75cm)fish,sum1 said is called a Long Tom.Bite went off then we went hm. Tight lines Penguin. EDIT: pictures added, crazedfisherdude
  5. Bad luck mate with them jackets around,we got peppered by em on Tues at Molli pt,they even wrecked our soft plastics. We found some small kings (50-65cm)over at the 3rd runway though. Better luck next time. Cheers Penguin
  6. Hi guys I just wanna say I think some of you misunderstood me when I said Asians.I did not mean all Asians or some Asians,It was that I was just describing the guys in that particular boat, and they were Asians or if you prefer Orientals. If they looked Australian I would have called em Aussies,Anglos or Whites. PS Was back on the bay today,we had a visit from fisheries, my !st in 5yrs, full report 2moro after I work out how to attach pics. Tight lines Peguin
  7. Thanx mate it was a good day,and we had a good feed that evening.
  8. Hi fellow raiders Two mates and I fished Botany Bay yday, launched boat at dawn, went to Molli pt, spent 2hrs fishing there using yakkas squid and prawns for no keeper fish. Saw a small alloy boat beside us,with 4 asian fisherman and about a dozen rods stowed on board.I saw them over the space of 1hr land 3 small kings of maybe 50cm,all three were put back in the water, but still hooked up to the rods they were caught on,and the fisherman would just get another stowed rod and continue fishing. We observed this from about 40 mtrs away and with the use of binoculars, furthermore this boat had no markings or reg no.s that we could see. They made a hasty exit when we were busy trying to land something big which resulted in a bust off near the boat.We never saw them land these Kings a second time, but they had seen us watching them thru my binos, and why had they not released the fish upon 1st capture. We came to the assumption that they kept the fish suspended and alive under there boat to avoid being cought in pocession of dead and undersize fish. Anyway after they left we went to 3rd runway, saw birds working the surface nearby,we spun up 4 Tailor(40-43cm) in about 2mins,then some clown came thru the school in his ski boat and that was the end of that.We started up a berley trail and in the next hr we landed 8 Trevs(33-39cm) and I landed 1 Kingy(61cm)and lost another thanx to a swivel that had let go.Kingy and Trevs were all caught on unweighted peeled prawns. Tight lines and appologies for the long report. Pengiun
  9. Congratulations on catching your 1st King, well done, I hope u catch many more and we get to read about it. I've caught half a dozen or so Kings this summer and all have been on peeled prawns. We even have seen one take prawns we have thrown at him over the side of our boat, until he finaly took the one attached to my hook, this was about 5 feet away and 2 foot down from us. I,like u now, know they take prawns. Cheers,Penguin

    King Hunt

Hi there Sea Jay, Lately I've tried the heads,Watts Reef and Molineaux, targeting the Kings, but have had little success. Im no Kingfish expert as I've only purchased a boat 12 months ago and am still learning. However I have managed to land a few while targeting other species. The only place in Botany Bay I've landed a few has been the third runway. Each time has been on 4 or 6kg line using unweighted peeled prawns, drifted slowly down a berley trail.Fish have all been 50-65cm with a few bust offs not uncommon. I have tried squid and live yakkas there for not a touch, while the humble old prawn has come up trumps. Good Luck in your search on Saturday
