  1. Thank Dan,You probably didn't recognise me behind the hat/glasses but your engine is purring along nicely and I have really enjoyed being out following your ideas in the xxxxxxxxxxx kingfish DVD.It all pays off in the end and also Trippo my mentor is shouting at me to keep my rod tip up and the line taught. When is your next DVD?? Richard
  2. Set off from Roseville on Saturday with Trippo and picked up some live bait before heading outside. We set up the downrigger and also trolled at the surface to cover as much depth as possible. All of a sudden everything was going off - both of us had to grab a rod but all the kingies were around the legal limit so back they went. As we were heading south there were schools of salmon passing by but we were more interested in targetting the kingies everyone had been talking about. It was quite eerie because there was no one else around and we were having a great time but all were small so they were going back. Anyway by now we wanted a change of scenery and the swell was bugging us so we headed north. This time we just bottom bashed again with yakkas and all of a sudden both rods went off. trippo got smashed and busted but some how I managed to fight mine to the surface after getting running instructions for at least 20 minutes.Everytime it saw the boat it would dive to the bottom.then the question was where is the net?? -left at home!! So the plan was to grab it by the tail and as you can see in the picture we were succesful to bring it on board.- 103 cm on the brag mat.!!.As you can see from the picture we had a chance to celebrate. There are pictures available but the site doesn't have enough storage. Not bad for a beginner?
  3. Hi Guys, Managed to break the Kingie hoodoo. Set off from Roseville at gentlemans hours with new engine purring nicely ( bought from Dan T and fitted by mobile mechanic Hamish from Adventure Marine ) , headed to get live bait (to test new live bait tank) either squid (trying the xxxxxxxxxxx promotional squis jig )-no luck then to get yakkas no luck the westerly was stronger than BOM had predicted so we went outside to slow troll down to Bondi testing various sps etc Trippo was my mentor and he had set up two light weight rods/gear, then we noticed the familiar sound of the line running. I handed over the helm and managed to capture my first Kingie. Quick picture to capture the moment then back into the drink for us to catch again in the summer. Thanks to everyone who has helped with advice Jo Cool in particular as we testing a new Garmin 72 as well (tested a few spots). Very little sambo activity at the heads so we headed home
  4. Hi All, Would like some valuable experience if you have time. i am installing a live bait tank and need to cut an overflow into the rear transom (of a haines signature 4.6). There is an existing outline in the fibreglass on the outside of the current storage bin which i am converting. Do I mark up first with tape, then drill / file out shape and how do I finish off proffessionally, with beading/gelcoat etc. I look forward to your guidance. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated
