  1. You caught the king at night? <_<

sure did wb not a real big bay when it comes to fighting a torpedo on steroids but what a 20min fight lucky the only other boat there was my mate just cooked up some kingy for dinner it was lovely

  2. Nice work, especially on the by catch.

You have peaked my curiosity, what is it you do with said venitian blind cord?

i fish with 8 metres of venetion blind cord with a 30 cm wire trace then 3x no2 gang hooks with unweighted pillies or yellowtail slabs

  3. hi all just got back from a hairtail session at wb managed to get 2 in the boat that were 1300 mm long but got busted up by 6 others that were a lot bigger than that .80lb trace, busted gangs, snapped venetion blind cord my way of fishing for hairtail and the bycatch was the best of all a 90cm kingy that took a 250mm long livie under a balloon . one other boat got one but didnt see how big it was

  4. I have been fortunate enough to have spent the last 3 days along side some great mates, Chasing the iconic Murray Cod.

The natural beauty of the australian outback is almost as mind blowing as the fishing. The first cast of the trip secured my first Cod, and that set the pace for the next 2 days. We caught a total of 40 Cod between us, with plenty coming in the 3-4kg class and a couple of 6-7kg models thrown in for good measure. But the icing on the cake was a 109cm brute which took a fancy to my surface lure. We could only estimate the weight, but we have on good authority that a fish in that class would be nudging the magic 50lb mark.

I only have a few photos, but i'm sure Grant and Tony will contribute some of the pics from their cameras.

I think i got my Mojo back with vengence....

terrific fish if you dont mind me askin what area suburb did you you go to

  5. Tony - you are absolutely correct. The stop lock function is brilliant if you want to fish a specific snag or school of fish and the track memory function is a cracker, great for working a bank, oyster racks and the face of a weedbed. It is well worth the investment.....I don't know how I used to fish without it :biggrin2: .

you said yours is a riptide is that the same as a terova

  6. Hi Tony, the iPilot is brilliant and is well worth the investment. The strength of the Terova iPilot is that you get the foot pedal control and the iPilot control. I would strongly recommend you get a quality Deep cycle AGM marine battery to power the iPilot. I have a Century 12V 100amp AGM and it has been powering my Minn Kota Riptide iPilot for 3 years, including some 20hr lure sessions in the Barra impoundments of QLD. This will cost you an extra $280 but is well worth it. You should also invest in a quality recharger such as a CTEK to ensure your battery lasts.

    cheers Basscatcher.

    thanks basscatcher

i think the gps side of it will be real handy i fish for bass in a lagoon at colo and it will be great to set a run 5m from the edge and let it go by itself while i fish and the anchor mode sounds like the ducks guts

  8. G'day All,

I am currently servicing a Penn 8500ss for a mate of mine, and shyte, does it need it.Anyway after much stuffing around ,i have managed to get it all apart and to my surprise, apart from rooted bearings everything else is as good as new.

Now my problem lies with the pinion bearing,it's stuck like a bastard, and even though i have destroyed the bearing, the outer race is still stuck .I have tried various penetrating oils etc, gentle pursuasion but alas it is still stuck.

So i am desperate, and i'm relying on the collective Raiders brains trust to help me solve this problem.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

hi banana try putting the part of the reel with the stuck bearing in the oven and warm it up a bit not hot enough to melt anything when hot enough put a icecube on the bearing and hopefully this will shrink the steel andmake it easier to get it out

  11. hi guys

not much to talk about had to do a trip to brissie on fri nite on the way back stopped in at harrington about midnight sat and went for up the north wall and spoke to a local chap that fished there on fri nite and he caught 4 x 80 cm jew on the bottom of the run out tide but had none on sat nite but tide had not slowed enough well (thats my report for harrington wall)

  12. Hey mate,

Harrington is a great place.. Friendly fishing village. I've spent many holidays up there and always had a relaxing time and brought home good catches..

Crowdy head has an easy launch boat ramp with full facilities.. With a 6m boat you'll have no problems getting out to the deeper reefs for some big snapper and kings around mermaid reef up north and old bar down south.

The river has plenty of fish such as flathead and huge jewfish around the break wall and nice swimming spots.

If you have a 4wd there's good tracks and camping spots to explore around crowdy national park. The bowling clubs good for a tasty meal and Harrington pubs even better for a cold one

    Hope this helps

    Cheers Matt

thanks for all the info im sure i will have lots of fun
