  1. I'm sure most Raiders have got a nipper pump at home.

I've got three which have all packed it in, even bastardising

them to make one good one.

It's time to buy a new one and I would like everyone's opinion

on which pump is the best.

There are quite a few on the market with brands like:

    Berkley

    Wilson

    Alvey

    Force ten (crap)

and more that I can't remember.

I know there's one that has a rubber grommet where the bushing

is on the top, but can't find the brand.

    Anyone have a favourite??

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Hi Pete, Alvey by a mile. cheers Ray

  2. How now what fish? We saw this fish last february in Sport Stephens harbbour, even Ross Hunter did`n know what fis it was.

Body was 6-8cm long, but back fin and belly fins was like blue lines, back fin about 50cm long. Fish was 10-20cm deep, and did eat some small plankton`s. Wery beatyful fish.

  3. Some councils are discussing the ban of professional taking of nippers and I have heard that the state government is contemplating putting a bag limit in place. The bag limit wil stop shops getting an adequate supply for sale.

You will have to pump them yourself then.

    Dave

Hi Dave, There is already a bag limit on them 100 a day. Cheers RAY

  4. "Someone" once told me that for small bends u can pack it full of river sand and put tube ends on..then bend it gorilla style.

Disclaimer lol...like most tales of wisdom i've never tried it and cant vouch for it. Just take a slab down to the local exhaust shop with your pipe i reckon.

Hi Mr RB, Boomer is on the ball with filling tube with sand it does work, they used to bend Copper Pipe this way in the old days. You can also go to a company who makes and fit roll out covers for Tipper Trucks the only one that I know is at Wetheral Park called Pro Tarpe they just made me covers for my Truck & Dog this week. I hope this helps you . Cheers RAY
  5. HI Kael, I own 11 Heartlands and 4 of them are the Z model, what makes you think the rod you looked was not made in Japan? as the 4 I have are stamped MIJ. I think you will be very happy chapy if you buy one,won of the best rods Daiwa make for S/P or Hard Body lure casting. It is a shame you dont live closer to me and you could have had a go at casting a lure or two in the Nepean. Cheers RAY :1fishing1:

  6. Hi Glenn, Your closest W/bridge is at Blacktown Tip on Richmond Rd, Marsden Park, you do not have to unhook trailer to get your weight for boat & trailer just drive the car off bridge & stop with your drive wheels just off the bridge. The girls there will give you the weight or you can look at the screen above your head & read the weight

  7. Hi guys

Hoping someone will be able to help me with this one!! Without a hallmark, how do you tell the difference between Sterling Silver & silver plate?

Seems you can scratch it & add a drop of Nitric Acid to the scratch ..... but I don't have any Nitric acid & don't particularly want to scratch it either! :1prop:

Any sure fire ways an amateur can tell the difference??

    Thanks

    Roberta

Hi Roberta as you have decribed is the only way it can be tested. :1badmood: Cheers RAY
  8. I like to put a couple of coats of varnish on my new fishing rods if they have a cork grip. I find this helps to keep them looking like new and stops them getting dirty. I find it does't effect my grip of the rod while fishing. Just rinse off with water.

    cheers. Geoff.

Hi Geoff, You are right I do the same as you but I use Wattle Two in One stain and varnish.

My oldest Heartland Rod is 17 years and still looks like new,By the way all my rods with cork are done in the Maple stain and look great. Metho does not damage cork it's just a good cleanging agent. Cheers RAY

  9. After tying the leader to the braid using an albright knot, what tool do you guys use to trim the excess line ?

I used to use a nail-clipper for mono line and it worked a charm, but not quite the same result with the braid !?!?

Also tried using pliers and that was not satisfactory either ...

    Any hints ? Thanks.

Hi Stylo, $1-50 for a pair of Nail Clippers works for me.

  10. Could anyone please tell me the correct pressure for 9in alloy wheels.

Hi Gazza, It should be stamped on the tyre after the size and have PSI after it. Cheers RAY
