  1. Hey raiders. I'm planning to fish the harbour tomorrow (Sunday) on my newly acquired, seldom used quintrex. I haven't been fishing in the harbour since summer when the bonito and tailor were chomping anything. Obviously , different tactics are required tomw. Since I haven't been for so long i was just wondering if anyone could help me by letting me in on what has been biting this week and where I might find some. I plan to catch a couple of yakkas for live bait and will have the usual assortment of lures and frozen bait. I don't have a sounder unfortunately ( yet). Any ideas would be appreciated. Tonez
  2. *DOES NOT HAVE seats, rod holders, lights, storage Hey mate I have been fishing in the harbour on a very simillar boat which also had no rod holders, seats or lights. Rod holders (the ones you stand your rods in when not in use) are a must as you will find yourself standing, tripping over or breacking your gear very easily if you take 4 or 5 rods between a couple of people like i do and stack them on the floor. Seats will defintely improve comfort if you intend on fishing for longer than a couple of hours. I find my back starts to hurt after a while sitting on the benches without them. Lights only necessary if you intend to fish before or after daylight. Your choice but highly reccomended. Nothing wrong with the boat at all but factor in the extra money you will need to spend on rod holders, lights, and seats. If you intend on doing any trolling, i reccomend you go for a forward steer or consol typr boat. Good luck and cheers
  3. Hi All This is my first report, hopefully many more to come. Hit the harbour for an afternoon session on friday 18 Feb with a couple of mates. Went out from rose bay and didnt have to move very far at all. The salmon and bonnies were busting up the surface all around shark island. The birds were in on the action as well. Armed with a few Rapalla and Halco hardbodies and some SPs, we used the wind to drift to them and within about an hour, we had landed 2 salmon over 65cm (lost a third at the boat) and 4 bonnies over 40cm. (There is a also a fish in the harbour somewhere with my Rapala X Rap attached to it - blue in colour - which was taken due to my dodgy knot. If you find it, pls let me know LOL). The SPs didnt do too well as the salmon kept biting off the tails. Once the commotion slowed down, we bottom bashed for a while looking for some snapper, and managed one 30cm specimen among 30 or 40 squire and one 25 cm bream. A great day out nonetheless and my mates (who have never fished with lures before) were stoked. Sashimi for dinner with a couple of beers. Cheers Tonez

  5. Hey guys.. I am new to posting (well this is my first) but I have been a keen reader for a while. Just wondering if anyone can help me with advice on what effect (if any) snap swivels have on trolling hard body lures and flicking plastics. Is it better to tie the lure/plastic straight to the leader? Any help will be appreciated. I mainly fish the harbour. Cheers
