  1. Yellowfin tuna season is coming up in a few months and I'm keen to get on a charter out of Sydney. Anyone have any good boats they can recommend? I'd be happy to drive north or south a couple hours too if it means getting on with a great crew and boat. I've done loads of tuna fishing when I lived in California and am very aware that getting on a dodgy boat can ruin a whole trip. Thanks for any good info you can give.
  2. I'm convinced rock fishing is all about the weather...crap weather = great fishing! After posting the original report, I went back out to my local at Whaley last Tuesday in the howling southerly and rain and got 2 bonnies, a big salmon, and a 66cm king all in about 45 minutes on live yakka before the weather got to me and I called it a day. Great fun but not a dry bit of clothing. Oh well, that's fishing I guess, keeps me coming back everytime!
  3. Just a bit of a report for anyone reading or planning a rock session this weekend. I've been fishing pretty hard off the rocks from Avalon to Barrenjoey over the last month with lots of success but kings have seemed to really slowed down this week. Three early mornings this week including today with plenty of yakkas, gar and every lure known and only a few small bonnies to report. Haven't seen anyone else get more than a couple of very small kings. If you've got a boat, hit the harbour or FADs. Good luck
  4. Hello fellow fishing addicts...I've been following the site for awhile, but only just joined. Hope to be able to contribute to the great community. I'm looking for info on fishing the tip of Booti Booti National Park up near Pacific Palms. A mate filled me in on some of the details, like the fairly long walk in on the North side of the headland. But wondering if anyone has fished there and can give me a few more details. Can you catch slimey mack and yakkas out on the end, or do I need to hike them in buckets? Is there a defined ledge to fish or are there a few choices? I've heard it's a great spot for tuna and kings off the rocks and wanted to head up there next month. Thanks for any help you can give.
