  1. seems like a good spot around there though. First time i have ventured down there.
  2. Hey guys, I am just wondering if anyone fishes around middle head and has any trouble with the suspicious characters in the bush haha??? I went down there on sunday morning for a fish and managed a nice 39cm bream on a half pilchard but as i was walking back up the cliff and through the bush sore a naked character walking through the bush, at least i made it back to the car alright..
  3. yeh its definately overkill. ive actually got a 10ft light rod too for inclose shore fishing Just figured a general rod for beach would be 12 foot
  4. yeh fine mate. But i would recommend at least 12 foot for the beach.
  5. dont get me wrong, ive caught plenty of bream on the 13'6 but i prefer a lighter weighted rod for bream/whiting.. i use both set ups.. personally i havent had much luck with plastics off the beach, nothing better than live bait, worms, yakkas.. catch heaps of salmon, taylor, flat head on gang hooks and pilchards.. Cheers
  6. ive got a 13'6 live fibre chamion trophy from wilson. The rod works a treat. can hanlde salmon, taylor with ease.. if your targetting bream/whiting etc i use a 12 foot rod, nothing wrong with useing 2 rods off the beach.. I use the live fibre with a 650 alvey. I prefer alvey, especially off the beach as there is no problem with getting sand in it and it casts further. If you get sand in an alvey, just piss on it and its good to go again
  7. and surely you wouldnt put it in the wrong section if it was titled fishing report-landbased and fishing report-boat
  8. yeh i have brought this up before. As a dedicated landbased fisho i would love to see its own section. I cant see why you wouldnt have one, it seperates all the reports to make it easier for all users. Im all for it
  9. anyone one caught any kings landbased recently????

  10. i just came back from townsville and managed a 15kg spaniard.. we were trolling reasonably slow at around 5.2.. what worked best for us was one of those halco red and white lures.. Also the mackeral boats up there were pulling in heaps trolling gars.
  11. wow some of those kingies are fat.. well done.. at least i know where i am going for my next fishing trip
  12. Hi raiders, As a dedicated landbased fisherman i am just wondering what your thougths are on having a lanbased section dedicated to the subject. Thoughts? Cheers
  13. by the way i have never caught or eatin robinson bream before but far out the flesh is amazing. great to eat.
  14. This is my first post so here i go. I recently just got back from a 10 day fishing trip an hour drive north of townsville. The fishing was great. Got out to the outta reefs twice and landed some good fish including coral trout, red emperor, robinson bream, sweet lip and some good spanish mackerals. The mackerals were on fire when we were up there, my biggest going 15kg on one of those halco red and white lures.too . If we werent out offshore we were in the creek landing mangrove jacks, flathead, bream. We also got mud crabs which everyone knows is one of the best things to eat. I have posted a few pictures below. Cheers

only managed one small taylor. No kingies two weeks in a row, not good. Might head again this sat. Should be a good tide.

  16. good work. I will be looking to head down there next weekend, heading deep sea fishing this weekend. Might be a good spot if its a little tricky to get too, less crowds especially compared to clifton gardens. I am considering fishing the south side of the headland.
  17. yeh i have been looking there on google maps. Might have to venture on down there over the weekend with some livies.
  18. thanks for the information guys. Seems like there is a bushy headland just south of clifton gardens reserve. Any one know if you can walk around there on the headland?
  19. Hi Guys, i have recently moved to neutral bay and just wondering if there is any good landbased spots around neutral bay, mosman, balmoral beach etc. Target fish can range from anything from bream, flathead to even kingies. Any help appreciated. Cheers
  20. Hi Guys, Ive recently moved to neutral bay and wondering if there are any good land based spots around there? Was thinking around cremorne point but not sure. Target fish would most likely be bream and flathead. Any help would appreciated. Cheers
  21. Not a problem at all. Im heading there tomorrow morning. Im thinking of doing a charter near Koh Samui so i will let you know how it all goes. Prises seem fairly cheap.

  23. Hey, Heading over to Thailand this thursday for 10 nights? Just wondering what the fishing is like over there and if anyone has done a charter around Phuket or Koh Samui. Cheers
  24. Hi Beaver, I fish a fair bit from south narra beach and manage to get a few salmon and the occasional flathead. I am just wondering what rig you use for the whiting. I was thinking of targeting them soon. I have heard some people use red tubing to attract them? Any help appreciated. Cheers
