    Boat weight

Gents, I know I will only know going over a weighbridge which I'm planning on doing but what do you think my boat would weight. 4.5 m Hinton glass v hull cuddy cab. Engine on board 75hp etec 2004, trailer is pretty standard . Trying to see if the jeep compass sport 4x4 would struggle towing it.
  2. I'm lucky in a sense I do shiftwork so never have to go to ramps on weekends. I put in at foreshore yesterday, only another 3 boats putting in... Makes it far less stressful
  3. I went 3 weeks ago on the hawkesbury and set some, end of the day we went to collect, I small tinnie done the bolt from that location to a near point where they appeared to fish but kept looking at us. Out of 8, one was missing, one had a massive hole in it and the rest were there... I think we interrupted them ... I've heard stories of psyco lobster fisheries catching people red handed.. Pull up alongside em and jump in their tinnie and strike there floor with an axe and leave. I'm not saying that's the solution but that'll f.# k em. It is dissapoibting though, ya best like someone else said put em in and flick plastics near by
  4. Wow nice rig brother, I only dream of having a fish from a nice boat like that. Unfortunately with my boat I'm restricted to inside.
  5. I need one too, I'm at narellan. Cheers
  6. Use the same tactic to those flamin catfish and eels in the hawkesbury
  7. Definitely 40, you have the option now with not a massive outlay. You don't want regrets
  8. yeah i was a flint and steel last week, 5 or 6 trawlers doing happy laps up and down, up and down, side to side. breaks ya heart
  9. man the bays a bitch if the southerly hits, about 2 months ago it hit about 3 pm, must have been 35 knots and it was a really ordinary trip up the georges lol. bimini wasnt coping
  10. hey that where i put in, great ramp. nothing to the ramp, go up the creek to cowan point and the red marker anchor there for some good flatties using squid or prawns. its in about 11 metres of water. let me know if theres any luck, i have found that the 2 hrs before lowtides a good time
  11. no expert but there should have been abit of water still circulating so doubt you would say a full 30 seconds
  12. Hey raiders, went out yesterday morning. 6am on the water at apple tree bay, water was beautiful that time of the morning. short trip to cowan point and on to some flatties of good size. kept a nice one measuring 68 cm and the rest went back, also hit elanor bluffs but with not alot of luck, anyways i was trying plastics through the day as Im new to it but all fish were caught on bait being prawns or squid mostly. cowan point seemed ok there just near the red marker in about 10 metres of water. Just finished dinner tonight of flatty fillets, lightly coated in bread crumbs and crushed corn flakes and pan fried. good feed and a heeps of fish there and kids polished it all off. cheers fellas
  13. hmmm never noticed that. might have to muck around tomorrow with it. so if im revving it and theres no pee, thats ok ??? i thought it would overheat
  14. ANY IDEAS GUYS, HAVE AN OLDER 1986 YAMAHA , LAST YEAH, NEAR GEARBOX OIL, IMPELLER AND FUEL FILTER. AFTER 9 MONTHS OR SO I STARTED IT AND TODAY I NOTICED IT WASNT PUMPING WATER, TURNED IT STRAIGHT OFF AFTER 20 OR 30 SECS. GOT A PIN AND PUSHED IT IN THE OUTLET AND YEAH I GOT STEAM. STARTED HER UP AND I GOT WATER PUMPING...COOL, DISCONNECT HOSE FROM OUTLET AND ITS SQUIRTING REALLY WELL, PUT IN GEAR AND GIVE IT A FEW REVS THEN HMMM NO WATER PUMPING AGAIN... OFF AGAIN THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER ON AGAIN AND IT STARTS PUMPING AGAIN............. ANY IDEAS FELLAS WOULD BE GREAT. DOES IT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING ELSE IS BLOCKED
  15. my 2 bob. I put in at apple tree bay, very secure, beautiful big ramp and i come from Campbelltown. go up cowan creek about 20 minutes and ya at flint and steel
  16. haha i was out in the bay on friday too, getting smashed at 3.30 ish all the way up the georges too to sandy point. I lost a witches hat or someone flogged it. Did anyone find one lol near red markers near the public moorings ???
  17. squid, you mentioned pinta bay, has 3 moorings, if you go straight out of pinta as if heading out of jerusalem. straight across try for squid there.
  18. caught yakka and 6 squid on the public mooring buoys last night, burley........
  19. Will Just give you my opinion. 6 - 8 hp shortshaft if u have an adjustable bracket. I have a 5 metre glass, had a 15 hp on it, wayyy too heavy and longshaft it drags in the water, had to get rid of it. yeah 6 to 8 might be slow but its just to get out of trouble isnt it back to the ramp and put back. or just ditch and auxilary and join seatow ( nrma on water ) . I didnt join them myself but only because they dont service the south coast.

    opps

Hey fellas, someone will know. i picked up a 2nd hand tinny the other day with 9.9 hp yam on it. i think when i left, the bloke didnt tilt the engine properly, somewhere on route home the engines come down straight and i basically snapped the small fin under the prop. its just a throw around tinny but will this affect the basic functions of the engine or can i get away with it. no damage to gearbox bit, just the fin or half of it. Also what material is this casing, it aint just metal as its got some powdery composite in it. cheers guys. pics abit small

    auxillary

Raiders, Help yet again or opinion rather. I have currently a small 4.5 m glass Hinton with a 70 hp. As an auxillary i have an older 15 hp johnson longshaft which has a lower end bearing problem but my issue with it is it seems way too heavy and drags in the water when on the mount even when adjusted all the way. In everyones opinion, can i get away with a 6 hp short shaft, i dont care how long it takes to get back to the ramp as its a last resort.... will the 6 hp push my boat albeit slowly ???? cheers fellas, id join the towing mob but they dont tow down the south coast.. cheers fellas.
  23. lol, i dream of a nice new etec. 40 to 50 hp will do just fine. maybe one day.
