  1. After years of trying to catch my first kingfish, the fishing gods smiled down on me yesterday. I went out into the Georges River in search of bream so I was fishing light. Went to a spot I hade never been to and proceeded to fall asleep as nothing was happenning. Not a touch. Even the wind couldn't move the rod tip!!! Then out of nowhere... BOOOM!!! the reel screams for what seemed an eternity. "Nice bream" i think. I set the hook and for 10 minutes coaxed this damn fish to the boat 3 times and every time he got close, he would strip off more line again. "might be a jewie" my mind says. Finally I get him to the boat. The missus nets him. A beautiful FAT kingy!!! He was only 55cm so he was sent back. Of course with all the excitement no photo was taken!!! (bloody idiot!) I am no longer a Kingy virgin and i feel liberated. BTW he was caught on 6 pound line, small running sinker and a prawn... GO FIGURE!
  2. hi all... first time poster here went out 2 sundays in a row in Botany Bay and georges river... went to my favourite spots that never fail to produce decent fish... last sunday lots of fish all under 15 cm... massive fail!!! so it was a very frustrating 5 hours... weather was fantastic though! yesterday 4 hours for 2 bites and no fish ... both occassions used frsh prawns, live yakkas, live or frozen squid caught from previous sessions, and even pillies... used lots of burley.. i guess thats why its not called catching... anyway ill be back out there again this weekend with my little son... he might be the lucky charm
  3. nice benny... im going out sunday morning i hope im half as successful
  4. gday all. im a newbie here and have spent way too much of my work time scanning the site. For 30 years ive been land based and have had some terrific success (by my piddly standards). Finally after many years I have bought a boat. Its not a fishing boat (more of a cruiser) but it will get me to most places. My plan is to take my missus out into Botany Bay this weekend. She is convinced she wants to catch a kingy or big bream. If any of you guys or girls can point me in the right direction in regards to location to anchor that would be great. We know w can get flatties on the drift between the bridges and in the Bay but if I can get her to catch a kingy or thumper bream i'll be in the good books and wont get so much crap for being out so much on the water. Any tips would be greatly appreciaed. Cheers
