  1. Barry Mundi you are spot on. Senate seats are the go, if you believe a single issue party is actually beneficial to fishing. I'm sounding like a broken record but I believe professional lobbying would be far more effective than a single issue party. That's what the commercial fishing sector does, and does very well. While I'm here, can anyone tell me what, if any money, the recreatinal fishing industry puts into lobbying/politicking. How much does Shimano's importers put into rec fishing lobbying. How much does say Quintrex put into rec fishing politics? Have rec fishing lobbyists contacted caravan park/tourist associations for input? Cheers Bombie
  2. Thanks Jo, might see if I can get someone to quiz the feds on this. Bombie
  3. Hi guys, just saw a press release; NSW govt has banned the super trawler from NSW waters. A small victory. But can the feds over-rule? chers Bombie
  4. Thanks for the reply Allen; good to get such an insight and very interesting stuff. Seems marketing is taking over the world. cheers Bombie
  5. Good stuff Iain, would love to hear the response. Bombie
  6. Hmmmmm, please correct me if I''m wrong, but didn''t a previous Fishing Party press release state the party would follow government lines on all issues apart from fishing? How does this stand with presenting a policy which includes tax thresholds. And could someone explain how, if a Fishing Party senator will vote with the government of the day, the party expects to influence government of the day policy. If you have vowed to vote with the government, where''s your leverage? Yes it''s great people have the passion to try to present a voice for fishos, but I trully believe it''s the wrong strategy. Put this energy and money into lobbying the government of the day. Extract money from the tackle/boating industries and pay for a top, full time lobbyist in Canberra. Enlist every fishing celeb, ET etc etc to lobby pollies as well. It''s the way politics works now and I believe would be far more effective. Regards Bombie
  7. Hey Grant, don''t apologise for your questions; they are excellent and totally legit. Questions like yours create great debates!!!! Constant problem IMHO in some sites is very very expensive rods being pushed when most/many merely want functional economic rods etc. I love the tackle heads with 30 rods amongst us. love their passion for their gear, their knowledge etc but not everyone''s the same. Coupla things; I think the Shimano Squidgy Barra spin (and the other Squidgy spins) don''t have Fuji guides _ they are Chinese copies. The Shimano Raiders do carry Fujis though. Speaking of which, hey Allen, you say you can''t get a locally designed OS made rod for $100 approx, what about said Squidgy spins and Raiders (a touch more expensive). Their whole marketing schtick is based on em being specifically Barra Miller designed blanks for the Oz market isn''t it?? Anyway, can you give a hint on your latest designs: any longer style rods in the range? Your input makes excellent reading. cheers Bombie

    Centre Console

Hiya all, wondering if anyone has attempted to buy a centre console from a major manufacturer to retro-fit into an older boat? Do they do it, is it costly etc etc? I know there are a couple of consoles made by people like boatbox etc but to be honest I think they are seriously ugly consoles. I''m wondering whether someone like Haines or Seafarer which make very sexy, well designed consoles would sell them seperately? Cheers Bombie

    Bronze Whaler

Hiya all; Tried on another site awhile ago but no joy; anyone know anything about a boat called a Bronze Whaler. They are an approx 15ft trihull or cathedral hull in glass, made I am led to understand on Sydney northern beaches some years ago. Basically a Boston Whaler rip off. I''ve been offered one FREE . This one has a side console/steering, lovely wood accents (sound like a gin palace salesman!) and all stainless side rails etc. Just gotta add second hand motor and trailer and it could make a cheap harbour sportsfisher (hate saying bream boat). Anyone know ANYTHING about em before I commit?
