Went out of JB today, as did a few other boats with no success of tuna. Water was 18/19 degrees at Kink and Canyons with a couple of small scattered bait schools read off the sounder at 40m to 60m depth at the shelf. Plenty of birds also but all hovering with few to none diving action.

Did experience an exceptionally large pod of dolphins though, quite possibly the largest pod I've ever seen down here.

Overall the colour of the water just seemed off, searched hard to find good colour with no prevail.

Also unable to get the latest SST chart for the day due to overcast clouds blocking satelite all day.

Am thinking of heading out and giving  Ulladulla a go tomorrow. Anyone that went out today do any good? Or know of any reports of tunas being caught down that way lately?

Will post tomorrow on how it goes.

I was out of jb yesty as well, fised same locations and got the same donut result! The dolphins were epic though.

we fished all the way down to the ulladulla canyons.

Anyone that went out today do any good from Jervis Bay? Planning on doing a campaign over these next few days for some tuna for a troll of the canyons and 18/19 degree temperature break that has has pushed down these last few days. Will keep posted on how It goes.

  3. hi Guys,

i have a camping trip planned with the family and friends in Harrington in a couple of weeks. looking at getting the young ones into some fishing while we are there. how do the beaches fish? in particular Harrington beach as i want to get the 4by on the sand as well?

Any info would be great as i have only fished there once from a boat.

    Thankyou.

  4. Hi Guys,

heading up to fish SWR in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone know how the fishing and water is up there at the moment. looking to target any hungry pelagics at this stage weather permitting.

    Cheers,

    Adrian

  5. Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has fished Crowdy of late outwide? Will be up there for 10 days starting friday this week. Looking to target pelagics along with snapper and other bottom dwellers on the way back in.

    Any info would be appreciated

  6. That's a lovely big lizard, were there a few around the 40-50cm size too ???, they should start to come on a bit more now.

    Congrats mate..

yeah she had a lot of males around in the 35-45 size bracket. got a nice feed of a few for the table before hooking her.

  7. Great stuff mate. Would that happen to be in flint and steel bay?

na mate but not far from it.

Huge lizard mate. Congratulations on the catch. That would have to be a personal best. Well done

definately a pb for me! smashed it by about 30cms and 5 kgs.

  8. Hi All,

been a while since my last post as I have not had much time for a fish whilst modding my centre console. the plan for the day was simply to but the boat in the water and see how some the boat performed after some bait tanks and other additions were but in.

to cut a long story short a mate and I decided to have a flick with some plastics to see if we could rustle a feed of lizards and up came this big mumma amoungst a host of smaller models. before anyone starts to get all crazy, the fish was released to fight another day!

    hope you like the pics.

  9. Here is a sounder pic of Hairtails.

The one under the 12.8 is eating my soft plastic that I had dangling over the side.

thanks for that greg, thats pretty much what my lowrance was showing on sat night in cowan except it almost blacked out at times. the bites were few and far between though as it was hard to get past the little tailor getting about.

  10. Hi All,

we are getting to that time where cowan is lit up like a xmas tree with everyone chasing hairtail! although i have caught my fair share over the past few years I would have to say I still have plenty to learn as the missed hookups are plentiful!

    I have a couple of questions I would love answers or opinions too from anyone and everyone;

#1 Wire trace, singlestrand or fluro leaders????

#2 Pillies or slabs of fish (gar has worked well for me in the past)????

#3 Middle of bays or tucked in close to the shore????

#4 Rising tide or runout tide????

#5 and lastly what moon phase have you had better success on????

any infomoration would be much appreciated!

  11. a mate and i fished JB sat night from 4-10.45 and managed a couple semi hook ups on hairies and lost a cracker at the boat well over 1.5m

some blokes in a houseboat landed one that we could hear. tonnes of bait including tailor, gars and yakkas. one salmon as bycatch just on dusk. will hopefully be out again sat night this week to have another go.
