  5. Should be plenty of flathead around on bait and plastics, ive never crabbed there but im guessing any likely areas like you would on most other waterways would be a good start point. goodluck and let us know how you go!

  7. hi Guys, i have a camping trip planned with the family and friends in Harrington in a couple of weeks. looking at getting the young ones into some fishing while we are there. how do the beaches fish? in particular Harrington beach as i want to get the 4by on the sand as well? Hairtail

they have definately been on for weeks now, i got some in JB about 5 weeks ago and brained them last weekend in WB
  12. yeah she had a lot of males around in the 35-45 size bracket. got a nice feed of a few for the table before hooking her.
  13. na mate but not far from it. definately a pb for me! smashed it by about 30cms and 5 kgs.
  14. hahahahaha it was about 95cm. the cloth was purely an accident as i needed something to pick him up with
  15. Hi All, been a while since my last post as I have not had much time for a fish whilst modding my centre console. the plan for the day was simply to but the boat in the water and see how some the boat performed after some bait tanks and other additions were but in. to cut a long story short a mate and I decided to have a flick with some plastics to see if we could rustle a feed of lizards and up came this big mumma amoungst a host of smaller models. before anyone starts to get all crazy, the fish was released to fight another day! hope you like the pics.
  16. thanks for that greg, thats pretty much what my lowrance was showing on sat night in cowan except it almost blacked out at times. the bites were few and far between though as it was hard to get past the little tailor getting about.
  17. Thanks for that, i checked that article out a few weeks back and it was very helpful. Just looking for further opinions
  18. I had the same idea re the single strand as it is apparently very hard for fish to see in the water and durable.
  19. Hi All, we are getting to that time where cowan is lit up like a xmas tree with everyone chasing hairtail! although i have caught my fair share over the past few years I would have to say I still have plenty to learn as the missed hookups are plentiful! I have a couple of questions I would love answers or opinions too from anyone and everyone; #1 Wire trace, singlestrand or fluro leaders???? #2 Pillies or slabs of fish (gar has worked well for me in the past)???? #3 Middle of bays or tucked in close to the shore???? #4 Rising tide or runout tide???? #5 and lastly what moon phase have you had better success on???? any infomoration would be much appreciated!
  20. a mate and i fished JB sat night from 4-10.45 and managed a couple semi hook ups on hairies and lost a cracker at the boat well over 1.5m some blokes in a houseboat landed one that we could hear. tonnes of bait including tailor, gars and yakkas. one salmon as bycatch just on dusk. will hopefully be out again sat night this week to have another go.
  21. cracking session there. great to see them around in the bay at long last
