    G Loomis

Hi Guys, A good friend just returned from the States and brought back a spinning rod for me and reel to suit. I asked for a good spinning rod from the G Loomis range and this was the result. An SR 842-2 GLX 2-4 kg, matched up with a Shimano Sustain 1000FE, I would be using 4 or 6lb braid. Great looking rod and super light, but..........it appears terribly flimsy/fragile to me and the blank thickness looks more like, one of my custom made 1-3 kilo jobs. In the 2-4 kg range, I am used to using the Miller Tournament T Curve and the Rack Raider and this Loomis, just seems to narrow in the butt. I fish mainly in river estuaries and on the flats, for bream and flathead, but I am a bit nervous to latch onto a decent fish with this rod, in comparison to what I have been using. I have noticed mention regarding this rod, throughout the fish forums, but has anyone owned or used this model and is it any good for my use. G Loomis and other US Tackle Sites reckon it's a pretty awesome stick and will handle whatever I throw at it.....but I am still dubious. Can anyone shed some light on this rod for me and should I keep it, or sell and get one more suitable. At present it is unused and still in the rod bag. Thanks and Regards............Dixie.

Bloody fantastic job you made on this rod Rohit, it's exactly what I was after. Now all I have to do, is wait til the winds drop off, up here in god's country, to give it a run. Fellow Raiders...I also commend and highly recommend, the work of King Rods. Regards............Dixie.

    Beach/surf Rod

O'k thanks for the replies guys, I'll now look into your recommendations. Regards...........Dixie.
  4. Hi Guys, I looking at trying my luck with a bit of beach fishing, as an alternative to estuary spinning, wher I spend most of my time. Do any of you have any recommendations, regarding the purchase of a light graphite rod around the 10-12 foot length, with all the good gear attached and an excellent threadline reel to match. I would be mainly chasing bream, whiting, flathead, taylor etc, but wouldn't mind trying for an aussie salmon or school jew. Money is no object, I just want a quality setup. Regards............Dixie.
