  1. Wish I can have the 12ft Ugly Stik surf/rock rod, as a newbie, no boat, no fancy gear but full of passion . Spend most of my time on beach and rocks around Cronulla.
  2. no fish around at this moment mate, my advice is to get on a boat.
  3. Hi just wonder if I can catch yabbie or worms at silver beach kurnell? if not where I can catch some nearby? thinking of buying a yappie pump and try some beach fishing. thanks in advance!
  4. After dropped my brand new gear into the sea, broke a fancy shimano jigging rod fighting with a big fish, and couple of other good rods accidentally, now I am fishing with cheap ones from ******. Anything could happen about fishing, good or bad. Hope this make you feel better and good luck for the new year!
  5. I have to say i've never hooked a blackfish by myself but my wife got a lot. the funny thing is we always fish side by side and i made all rigs for her. to us i think the difference is patience. when you find out the tricks from other gurus just give it more patience and berly up. time and tide are also very important too. good luck and tight lines!
  6. who said there is no fish in cronulla well done
  7. well done! Every fisherman has his day but when is mine??
  8. that is what they say: fish often and anything could happen
  9. Hi raiders, I’m looking for a travelling rod which can cover as more fishing situations as possible, most of the time from rocks ,beach or beam corners, and more fishing species such as bream, drummer and salmon or rat kingies. Thinking about telescopic rod but worrying about the quality from previous bad experience. Shimano T curve travel 904 looks good but a little bit short and heavy. Could any one give some advice on that? Would like to spend a little bit more for the right one. Most important criteria, must be easy to carry into the cabin. Thanks and tight lines!
  10. Hi mate, be careful when you go fishing 'cause some areas are marine reserves, check the sign before you fish. I fished at the tallow beach north corner, with peeled prawn. big parking, good for surfing and camping, and fishing too because no small fish there. If I took 30lb line and 10kg rod i can show more fish here you may take your catch to AJ chinese restaurant at club byron 18 - 20 Marvell Street, the boss is nice they have buffet every saturday night. enjoy your time there and tight line
  11. Went to Gold Coast for a holiday, stopped at Byron Bay for 2 nights but got only couple of hours for fishing. 20lb lines only land one big drummer 46mm and a bream 38mm, busted twice. Saw other people caught giant tailors with metal lure. Found a chinese restaurant to cook the pig, very nice
  12. my advice is shimano t curve gt special
  13. thanks but where is that? can i get more clue please?
  14. it is not too late to consider an Alvey damage control!
  15. Thank you very much boattart, it’s at my front door Thanks for the advice Kingpig, the thing made me upset is I did exactly what you mentioned. 20lb mono, 00 ball sinker, the old master was less than 1 metre by my side. The only difference I can notice is I was using banana prawn and he was using bloody fresh cunji, we didn’t berly but he put on a lot of bait. I’ve been fishing the same spot for a while and got some pigs and gropers. Like BCF staff said when prawn and cunji both in the water fish will go for cunji. I saw many red crabs at bundeena but not on kurnell side, they all black. I will try with different bait again and hopefully can report something later.
  16. Thank you very much mate! can't afford a boat now, hopefully can get a kayak soon. will go to bare island to have a look!
  17. I went rock fishing last weekend but completely beaten by the old man beside me. 2 pigs and 1 big groper in 1 hour! he was using cunji and I was using prawn. Just wonder where I can find cunji near kurnell or somewhere else? Can anyone give me a clue please? Thanks and tight line!
