  1. cheers bait was fresh green eyed squid caught the day before in the hacking and kept on an ice slurry, local knowledge is everything, we started chasing them hard 2 years ago, document tides, weather, moons and many other factors (water temp etc) and slowly you develop a pattern, 4 specific jew missions in the last 6 weeks have netted 33 Jews between 40cm and 75cm, plus numerous bycatch, our system works, the Georges works, not the trophies that the hacking produces but consistency is everything and who doesn't want to hook a 4 or 5 pound Jew on bream gear? just make sure you put them back, they are too good to take home and the bycatch of bream and tailor are much better on the chew, the myth that releasing jewies scares the school is total crap, when they are on the hunt, nothing stops them, just IMO anyway, if its under 75cm, put it back and let it breed
  2. Sure were mate, Fairer to say the jews were caught on the bream gear, years of experience with the Georges River Jews shows the lightest you can fish, the more you catch, 2kg bream sticks, 1000 series baitrunner style reels, 4 pound line and 6 pound leaders, lightest sinker possible, 2/0 hooks and large bait, Cant go wrong, always a good laugh when you see guys at the ramp, 15kg sticks loaded with 25kg line in hand complaining there are no jews in the system!
  3. Morning Raiders, With the weather, tides and everything else comming together nicely towards the end of last week, my mate and I decided it was to good not to have another crack at the Georges River Jewies, (we boated 6 the week before) Hit the water after dark, set the lines and didnt have to wait long.... 10mins in our first jewie hits the next, 48cm and returned to fight another day, another 10 mins goes by, a bigger model at 58cm hits the net, 2 hours before the top of the tide and we knew it was going to be an entertaining night, All up 9 Jewies between 48 and 65cm (all released) 8 Bream to 41cm and 2 filthy eels, 3 good fish were also lost due to the light set ups used and were possibly bullsharks or much larger jew,(long powerfull runs with lots of headshakes....)
  4. Nice catch but what is the value in keeping a 45cm jewie? Just a baby and would taste worse than any salmon or sludge hugging catfish, Good you released the flatties,
  5. Hey Raiders Due to "excessive" annual leave I have been "forced" to have next week off, Keen for a crew that has experience at either the Peak or the Hump for a mid week session Have my own boat - 5.3 metre BFG Searider with a saltwater series 115 yamaha - or happy to tag along on another crew and cover my way, - 32 years old, very experienced at Sea, based out the Shire but willing to travel for the right location, just keen to get that trophy fish but weekends are to chaotic, Keen to hear from anyone that is free next week til 3pm (kid is in daycare and i like to spend an hour or so cleaning my boat after use) In my boat, I am happy to cover fuel and bait (BYO booze but no d@@kheads) and prefer to leave from Sylvania (Hole in the wall) keen to hear from any fishers that this post appeals to - just note, im not offering to teach novices - more keen to be taught! Tight lines!!
  6. Hey Tony, Your right, down near the mooring upstream from Capt Cook bridge, and mate, I was suprised to with the lack of interest... tried heads, tails, ganged, nothing... good luck and with the cleaner water, and better conditions predicted, might even try off Coogee!!
  7. Cheers and actually dont mind the crappy weather, keeps the boat ramps reasonably free and the top spots thin with boats!!
  8. Hey Tony, Had to mate, had the new boat sitting in the driveway for over 2 weeks and made a call on fri i was going rain hail or shine... Suprisingly there were quiet a few out early, Not much debris in the water and suprisingly water wasn't to bad,odd plastic bag but given the recent weather, quiet good Still trying to work out the new hummingbird so not sure on water temp... Arrived at the point to see plenty of tailer chomping the surface and knew it was going to be worth the early start, 8 Bream between 28 and 33cm with all fish caught on fresh hawkesbury prawns, yakkas and pillys didnt even get a touch.... Windwise at Towra we were tucked around the southern side so not as bad,
  9. Morning Raiders, first time reporter, long time viewer After the poor weather of late I was keen to get my new 1700 bowrider out and find a few nice fish, day started well off the point with some solid bream, thumper tailor and a few rat kings to 55cm (released) and great fun on the bream rods with 6pound line, Headed of to Bare island and was hammered by the undersized reds along with that solid norwester that came up around 9am finished off with a few nice lizards off towra and a good feed last night, given the weather of late it was great get out and get a few,
