  1. Hi mate, I although I don't have the exact rods you mention, I do have a Spellbinder (ultra light spin) and a Raider (4-7kg spin) and between the 2, I can say that the blank, components (the reel seat and the guides) and the build quality is much better on the Spellbinder. I would buy another Spellbinder anyday over a Raider, and with some of the clearance sales in the Spellbinder range at the moment (as they are being discountinued), you can probably get it cheaper. As for the reels, I have had a Stradic 5000FJ for the last 12mths and love it as it's performed faultlessly for me, but I'm sure either of the Daiwa's are equally capable.
  2. Hi mate, if you're after cheap option, I can personally recommend the Shimano Catana Coastal Light (10ft 6in, 2pce, 3-5kg line rating). Bought mine because it was cheap (for about $70) and thought I could use a knockabout light rock/beach rod, but it's become one of my favourites because of its versatility. Aside from light beach fishing (both bait and spinning), have used for luderick (off the rocks and in the estuary), and even spinning for salmon, bonito, etc.. from the rocks (can cast a 30g metal slug over 80m using 8lb Fireline).
