  1. Well done guys, You wouldn't think you were fishin' in the Cook's with that water looking so clean
  2. Hi everyone, A hypothetical question: I was looking at the pics from the Blackfish social at Lambeth Park and it got me thinking (now thats a dangerous thought) That boardwalk decking area most of you guys were fishing from was pretty crowded and resembled Pitt st during peak hour now this is my question, what would have happened if a member of the public just happened to be walking by and slipped on some green weed that had been carelesslly left out and hurt themselves, who would be liable? The person using that weed? everyone in its immediate vicinity? or Fishraider due to it being an organised site event? It would be an absolute legal nightmare for all concerned if something like that happened. With more events now being planned on the social calendar its probably a good thing to look into if it already hasn't As much as we all dont like to see accidents, they can happen but at least there will be the peice of mind that one wont have to deal with the financial burden as well.
  3. I havn't tried a PJ yet (nor do I want to) but I have tried Salmon and they are truly awful, much worse than Trevally infact!!!
  4. Plenty of Trevally in the bay at the moment, the bigger ones arn't too bad on light tackle but are still a bit of a pain when they are all thats being caught. I generally move on if the Trevally take over. I cant believe people consider them as good eating
  5. John Mellion was better know for his acting talents, one of his movies that comes straight to mind is Crocodile Dundee. I dont really know if he was a fisho at heart like most of us here, but the series of fishing vids that he hosted were great veiwing, his Aussie ocker presence gave these vids a real comical perspective. Wish I could remember their name
  6. What a load of rubbish, one only needs to have a look at Botany Bay as an example, despite the ongoing pressure from recreational anglers, fish stocks are substantially better now than they were 5 years ago, Why??? because the the Pro's are gone, dont need to be a rocket scientist to work that one out. I've seen the difference first hand, I fish Botany Bay regularly and have done for the last 30 years, over the last couple of years not only have the numbers of certain species increased out of sight but also their size as well. And these crackpots wanna carry on and waste money on 'studies' pay me the six figure salary and I'll do the study for you, it'll be short and sweet!!!
  7. I just tried the standard cable download test and got this; Your Results Test run on 08/08/2006 @ 11:28 PM Mirror: Optus Test type: Cable Your connection speed: kbps: 16538.95 KB/s: 2067.37 Mbps: 16.54
  8. I've got Optus cable as well but my modem is the SB5100 My download speed for the 15mb test was; Test run on 08/08/2006 @ 11:03 PM Mirror: Optus Test type: Cable (15MB Test) Your connection speed: kbps: 10270.52 KB/s: 1283.82 Mbps: 10.27 Netic, 5gig/sec not possible mate. To put that into perspective, thats 300gig a minute which is like downloading close 60 DVD's in 1 minute. F*** me, I gotta see this
  9. About 15 years ago one of the local video shops had a special section set aside on their shelves to cater for the local pub's fishing club. I've never seen so many fishing videos in the one place as what this joint had, I'd start at one end and by the time I finished watching all of them I'd start all over again cause' I never got sick of watching them I remember watching some videos with Geoff Thomas bloody good ones too from memory but I cant remember if they were the ones you were talking about. I miss having access to those vids, awesome action and no bloody adds like we have now on all the commercialised crap they put out I'd also be interested if anyone knew where to get a hold of the above mentioned vids as well as; The full Mal Florence DVD/vid set, Ron Calcutt series, from memory were called ''A Fishermans World" Rod Harrison series There was also a series of vids that the late John Mellion hosted which I enjoyed, anyone remember their name? There's more but these will do for now, I'm buggered if I can remember them as well. Inspin, sorry for hijacking your thread mate but this seemed like the ideal place to ask, maybe you remember some of these and wouldn't mind getting your hands on some of them

    Best Reel?

I've got both the 499 and 499 Pro, the French built these reels with only one thing in mind, they are built tough with enough power to pull in a mini bus. By todays standards they are fairly agricultural but back then they were equivalent ib toughness to maybe todays Saltiga's and Stella's. The 499 Pro I have is still brand new in the box, unused, not a mark on it, wonder how much it would be worth to a collector???? By the way I dont mind Shimano but my reel of choice would have to be Daiwa.
  11. Sorry mate I forgot to address your other question. As far as the Aero is concerned, I mentioned it the other day in another post. My brother in law picked one up on Ebay brand new from England. They are a nice looking and solidly made reel, they come with a spare spool and as mentioned before, the aluminium spool is around 3mm thick. Apart from playing around with one I havn't had the opportunity to fish with them yet, they look better and feel tighter than the BTR's and if look and feel is anything to go by I'll give them the thumbs up. My brother in law is pretty impressed with his one if thats any consolation, whether they are better than the current BTR's???? who knows, only time will tell.
  12. Wirlez, The rods that I have my baitrunners on are as follows; 3500B-Wilson Live Fibre 6-8kg blank, I cant remember the blank number 4500B- Silstar Powertip 701SWM & Ugly Stick GB1800 6500B- Silstar Powertip 701SWH No top of the range stuff here, just good honest, well proven and well performing rods at a price that wont break the bank. I was just about to edit my post and mention giving you a call at King Rods but I didn't like the chances of picking up a custom rod in that price range, how wrong I was
  13. I think he meant that he was budgeting $80-$120 for a rod to suit the Baitrunner
  14. Tom, From memory my fish/icebox is around 850mm long x 500mm wide and close to 450mm high. It is made from an extremely hard and durable poly material similar to the orange coloured Tropical iceboxes. I would definitely be looking at this material rather than fibreglass when being used for sitting. I bought mine from Fish N Dive at Taren Point a few years ago but I'm sure if you do a qiuck Google search you can check out their website and maybe find some more distributors.
  15. Mate, I think you got buckley's, I doubt that something with those dimensions will hold a minimum of 60 litres. You will need to get something custom built but again, with only a maximum overall height of 32cms the ice box will need to be longer and wider than the area you have to play with. Cant you fold the seat down out of the way when you are fishing? Better still take it out, get a bigger ice box than what you originally wanted and use it as a seat. Thats what I use as a helm seat on my boat, I simply made up a removable padded top that goes on the lid and its extremely comfortable, best of all it looks just like a bought one. I cant remember the dimensions of mine but the brand is Icey-Tek, it's capacity is 70 litres and holds ice for over a week in the searing heat.
