  1. Discovered Multiquote button tehe I haven't tried fishing in and around port kembla yet. I'll have to give it a go in the next few weeks. Yeah I should try using mono instead of wire trace. Maybe setup to rigs on my two rods one with mono and one with wire, see how that goes. Ill give stanwell park a visit, never thought of looking that way to fish, always looking south. Ill give your rig a go, hopefully i get something Cheers guys, got lots to try out and think about
  2. Yeah I will give Corrimal beach a go with ur setup. Went to Towrodgi beach today, a bit awkward with the beach being cut in half and deciding to climb down the sand to cast or cast up the sand cliff
  3. Thanks for that, Ive had Aussie salmon a few times before, mate brought it over and cooked it up,was suprised the first time I ate it thinking, "is this salmon? but it isn't pink!?!?!". Now im hooked on that fish. Yeah Im going to try a few different techniques, i tried unweighted pillies at kiama rocks afew days ago, squid kept playing with the bait. Might give it a crack this weekend again. Went out this arvo, felt some bites but came back with pillie heads. Maybe just down on luck cheers for the advice
  4. Thanks for that, Ill jott them down and find it on the map
  5. Hey raiders, Just as the title says, I want to know how to catch australian salmon from the beach and possibly rocks/breakwall. I currently use pillies on size 4/0 gangs, also have 5/0 gangs for the larger pillies that ive got. Only thing I am doing is going to the beach in the morning or afternoon when the tided is high and swell is atleast below 2m. I know someone told me about water temperature having to be warm, but how warm is it suppose to be. I currently fish the Illawarra region from Bellambi down to maybe Kiama. Love Salmon on the BBQ Cheers Davido
  6. Gday Raiders At the moment Im planning to go on a fishing trip with my mate around Victoria, since it coincides with a friends birthday in Melbourne. We will be doing this around the last week of November and maybe a week or so into December I was wondering where abouts I should go for a fish and also camp out. Thinking of doing a mixture of rivers/lakes and also beaches/breakwalls. All land based fishing, don't have a boat at the moment. any suggestions will be much appreciated Davido
  7. spewin I didnt go fishing on Saturday, would of loved to get in on the action but had to go to a birthday party
  8. Im a newbie too but i realised that rods have a max casting weight. Think its written on the rod somewhere. Maybe that will help
  9. Yeah had a good look. It was a trevally
  10. In the afternoon, I decided to go for a fish on Bellambi Jetty with my mate. Got to the jetty around 4pm, tried a few different rig setups on our light rods using prawns but I ended up using wash rig. for around 2 hours, while I was reeling in to recast BAM! Got hooked, drag was going nuts, had to adjust it abit to start reeling in. A few minutes later I finally won, having no net I decided to have my mate pull it up and winch it onto the jetty but the the line broke I estimated the fish to be around 35-40cm seeing as we had a good look at it. Pretty pissed that happened but I learnt my lesson and I should of brought a net. The yesterday I fished windang and hooked a pretty sizeable fish and had a 4min fight before the fish got the line snagged on rocks. So a bit depressed this week but can't wait to fish again!! Davido
  11. I think someone told me to fish whiting in the summer time with bloodworms near the caravan park
  12. Nah, I dont go out to the break wall at the sea tho i sometimes wear a beanie , i sit more inside of windang near a red buoy fishing bream lol. Thanks for the help. I'll probably give this ago in a week or 2. Will have spare money for some new gear.
  13. what sort of gear and bait do u use? Im looking into getting gear setup for fishing of rocks and breakwalls, sort of sick of catching small bream in windang atm. Today around 3-6ish caught 3 bream under 20cm.
  14. Went fishing today in Windang and my friend caught a toadfish. It swallowed the hook and we cut the line and let it go. A few minutes later my friend catches the same toadfish and again swallowed the hook. Was quite interesting to see that happend. Had a bit of a laugh.
  15. might be from Bellambi sewer plant or a storm drain pipe
  16. might try that once the weather calms down
  17. I was wondering if its any good to do landbased fishing around Bellambi. Since I live walking distance from the beaches and jetty, was wondering if there is any good spots and what sort of fish is to be caught. Also what sort of gear i should use. sorry for any inconvenience. Would just be a lot cheaper on fuel
  18. I should start fishing out there instead of inside windang lol. I see a lot of people fishing on that break wall
  19. When fishing today 50m away from where I last fished, started to bite around 5:30pm to 7pm. Ended up catching 4 bream and my friend caught 2 bream. only 3 fish were just legal between 25-27cm. Most of the bream except 1 swallowed the hook Though first fish I caught in a long time so I'm pretty stoked Going again for a third day in Windang, hopefully catch bigger fish if lucky lol. Though was pretty fun sitting their with your mate talking and all of a sudden you get a bite and it scares the crap out of ya lol.
  20. I'm going to write this down and try it out some time I've never fished west of the bridge before or thought about catching blackfish. Definetly have to try catch one I did see a lot of people fishing out at the break wall to the sea. I was near the park with the cleaning tables and BBQ
  21. Hello raiders, I'm a first time poster and somewhat quite new to fishing (Did a little bit of fishing as a child but had a 10 year gap of no fishing only catching one fish in my life, Tailor of Windang beach ). Went out fishing in Windang in between the bridge and the mouth of the opening in the afternoon around 3:30pm to 6:00pm on low tide on the break wall Shellharbour, close to the cleaning tables. Me and my mate was using light gear with frozen prawns peeled targeting Bream. Fishing for a while we started to get bites around 5pm, me being overly excited striked to early losing the fish and then getting the line snagged, tried my best to save the line but unfortunately had to cut it. My friend on the other hand was like "WOAH, I got something" reeling it in caught a Luderick (at the time we thought it was a Bream because we have never seen a Luderick before). The Luderick ended up being around 4-5cm under legal limit. Told my mate to give it a kiss before we let it go back but he refused haha. The second bite went by quick, felt 2 huge tugs then nothing, I pretty much figured it took the bait because I put it on pretty poorly because of low light and no torch. At this point we were quite excited to actually have had some action because the last 4 years only went fishing 5 times for around 2-3 hours each time with no action. We both instantly fell in love with fishing from this point and aim to go fishing on a regular basis, can't let our fishing licence go to waste We plan to go fishing again tomorrow somewhere around Windang or in more into the lake hopefully getting luckier if weather permits, next time bringing a torch just in case.
