  1. Wow! Eye opener. I'm In the market for one of these right. Was looking at the pro wave range too but both are VERY expensive. Do the sponsors do something similar at a discounted price for forum members??
  2. Thanks for the reply. The cutting compound sounds like the right approach. I've got a pressure washer but no machine buffer. I'll be pulling up the floor starting with a good clean all round with the washer prior to moving to polishing the exterior. There are some yellowish stains on the aluminium on the base of the hull would the cutting compound work on this? I feel the cutting compound will work well on the paint just not sure about using it on the base of the hull im thinking it might leave the aluminium looking dull. Thoughts on this? Will post some pics of the scuffs on the paint next time I have the cover off.
  3. Hey peeps! Looking for some assistance I have just purchased a boat it's a 2005 tabs territory pro. Generally in good condition but lived on the water. Motor was flushed after every use (thankfully) but the paintwork on the hull is looking dull and there is clearly signs of salt on the exterior (you can feel it when you wipe your hands over the hull). Any suggestions on how to get that paint work clean so it can "pop" again? I have read about salt-away and toilet cleaner... any suggestions on these too? Also have a few blue scuff marks from pontoons any suggestions on how to remove these without damaging the paintwork or leaving obvious blotches? Cheers
  4. Hey Jim! I was also out on this day in a white aluminium plate bluefin 4.8m tiller steer. After watching your videos I remember asking you if you had any keepers and the answer was "No! Must of caught around 50!" I also had a cracker session largest fish went 59cm had no live bait what so ever but went through about 6 white 7" jerkshads and after I lost my last they wouldn't take any other colour. Had one big fight lasted about 5 minutes before getting smoked I was furious! Good fun to say the least. Might see you out again some time. Bill
  5. We managed about 6 or 7 squid but only a single hit on a just legal king. We were fishing in the bay.
  6. Was also out on the water in Botany on Thursday. It was coming down pretty bad but well worth it. Where abouts were you fishing??
  7. Seen those videos on you tube previously he's got great technique. Any idea what rod that is he's using?? Looks like a nice flickstick.
  8. Hey guys, I purchased a Luvias 2506 from overseas and am looking to match it up with a rod... tomorrow! Currently running 0.8PE ygk g-soul upgrade (16lb line) with the same thickness as about a 4-6lb. Probably should of bought the rod first then matched a reel (would have probably baught a 2004 luvias)... but you live and you learn. Ill be using it to flick plastics (and squid jigs) mainly off a boat, but would also like it to double as a land-based rod for the same purpose. I would really like to get some whip on my plastics as my current 6 footer isnt cutting it for distance casting. Hence I'm looking for something longer. Target species, bream/flathead/whiting/squid. I have narrowed it down to 4 choices: 1. Daiwa Black Label Technical 6101mlxs - im loving the features and looks of this rod. My only issue is I have not seen it in the flesh so im not exactly sure how it feels or how it would balance with my 2506 Luvias. Anyone used one of these on a 2506 sized reel and can comment? It's a 5-12pound rating I would probably say this rod would be more suited to snapper/jewfish. Would it be slightly overkill for my 2506 luvias with 3kg drag rating? 2. G Loomis GL2 -. Saw these in the flesh was originally looking at the 7'1 3-5lb but i felt the 6'8 4-10lb balances better with my 2506. Also felt the 7'1 was a little long for my boating application. 3. Daiwa Black Label Versatile 6101lfs - 3-5lb probably more suited to my application in regards to rod rating just not liking the EVA grips I much prefer the cork grips on the technicals. Really keen on option 1 just not sure if the 5-12 pound rating is overkill without having a feel of the rod. The G-Loomis GL2 in the 6'8 definately feels great and balances well. Someone put me out of my misery please! Bill
  9. Purchased an additional 20L so will be getting around with 55L on board. Will work out some distances based on the first few trips. Thanks for the suggestions.
  10. Currently thinking: Setup 1: - daiwa sol ii 2508 - $299 OR - shimano stradic ci4 2500 - $259 - shimano Rarenium ci4 2500 - $259 - shimano sustain 2500 - $249 I've never had experience fishing a smaller reel e.g. 1000-2000. Can anyone comment on the advantages/disadvantages of using a really small reel for squid/bream/whiting (or even flathead). Setup 2: - shimano saragosa 5000 - $279 - sustain 4000 - $279 - Rarenium ci4 or stradic ci4 - $269 The saragosa is more than double the weight of the Rarenium ci4 and doesn't pull out as much drag. Any opinions on this? I've heard a lot about the saragosa reels but why would I buy a 5000 reel if a 4000 at the same price packs the same punch? Setup 3: I think I've made my mind up on an Okuma Salina 3 10,000 here. Can't really fault the reel and is great bang for buck at $199.
  11. $700 excluding rods. Not really fussed on the rod for setup one as long as it's super light and something I'm comfortable with to whip our jigs. Probably more concerned with the rod for the 4000-6000 reel and the big 10,000. Not sure whether to go with a broomstick or something with a bit of bend.
  12. Thanks for the reply The 4000 would mainly be used baiting, but possibly the occasional lure for snapper or flaties. I was thinking of a Shimano Saragosa going for $270 on motackle for the 5000 but I'm still tossing up on size. I don't want to be lugging around big reels if unnecessary. I like the pfleuger salts. Also considering an okuma salina 2 or 3 for the large size. The 10000 in the Salina 3 looks like a solid reel. Stradics are also a pretty good price point particularly for the 2500. Any suggestions on rods?
  13. Hey guys, Moving up in the fishing world just bought a boat and need some new quality gear. I need 3 reels to cover all forms of fishing. Need some suggestions on reels, type of line to spool, and rods to match for the following: Setup 1: small 2000-2500 that I can use particularly for squiding. Really want line to tear off this thing when whipping out a jig. Setup 2: reel size between 4000-6000 to use for any inshore fishing for flathead, rat kings, snapper, jewies. Setup 3: a big stonker from 10000-20000 to jig for big pelagics particularly kingies. My budget is $700 - $750 and I think I would probably be using setups one and two more often than number 3. I was originally thinking of just purchasing two of the same reels (6000-8000) for setups 2 and 3. Any thoughts on this? Cheers
  14. Thanks for the replies. I'll be purchasing an additional 25L to keep on board temporarily. Was thinking of an underfloor fuel tank but I like the idea of having multiple tanks so that fuel doesn't get stale. I guess I'll hit the water and not get too adventurous on the first few outings. I do plan on hitting 12 mile reef eventually. Any tips on how I can calculate my fuel usage over the next few weeks to ensure I can get there and back safely?
  15. Hey guys, Purchased a Bluefin 4.8m Viking with a Mercury 60hp 4 stroke tiller steer. The boat currently has a 25L and an additional 12.5L petrol tank. Anyone know how far offshore this will get me? I plan on averaging some time spent on the water before making a huge trip but just curious on how far people are getting on their petrol supplies. Cheers Bill
  16. Hey guys, Long time sneaking around this site. Hardly ever post but just bought myself a boat and need some assistance with new reels. Basically, I need 3 reels to fish everything from squid/bream/whiting, snapper/rat kings/jewies, and a stonker to chase some big pelagics off shore. Also need some suggestions on what line to spool these with. Can I have some suggestions on the following: 1. A light spinning reel around 2000-2500 for light fishing. I really want to be able to tear some line off this reel when throwing out a jig, especially when jigging for squid. What type of line and what pound would be best for this? Would you recommend spooling two different spools for different uses here? 2. What size would be recommended for fishing around bays or just past the heads for snapper and small kings? I want this reel to be as small and as light as possible, as I am likely to use this more often than the others. Again, what type of line and pound would be best? Would anyone recommend a baitrunner here? 3. A big stonker for some kingies offshore. Again what size and what type of line and pound would be best? My budget would be around the $700 for all 3 reels. I think I would probably prefer the spend the most on reel "number 2" as this would be the majority of fishing I would be doing, closely followed by 1 and then 3. I was originally thinking of purchasing two of the same reels (either 8000's or 10,000's) and spooling separate spools with different lines, but now I'm thinking of something around the 4000-6000 (mainly so I don't have to lug around a brick) and another around the 18,000-20,000. Does anyone use 8000-10,000's regularly for any type of fishing regardless? It's a bit overkill IMO but curious to know what people are doing out there. Looking forward to some replies. Bill
