  6. Hey Guys, As per late my fishing gear has resided in my boot for any possible action. While down south in Gymea picking up a piece of furniture for a relative i thought i would throw in a line. Grabbed some cruddy frozen hawkesbury prawns and threw a line in under the Tom Ugly's bridge. Hooked up on first cast, the fish pictured below, i think its a small king? I could be very wrong- but if right a very happy man to land my first king, small but hey they start somewhere don't they?? For a small fish, 25cm or so it put up hell of a fight... Quick snap and back it went. We caught a few other bream and a few smallish whiting, none the less, a good quick hour and a half of wheel spinning. Still keen to find some decent sized fish... The right landbase spot will turn up sooner or later. Mark.
  7. Wow! Matey solid effort. I can only hope to find this hiding in and around the harbour! Well Done!
  8. Hey guys, Just getting back into the fishing scene, been scouring the reports and write ups, after a decent weekend i thought I'd do the decent thing and share a little. Good mate and rods in the car, we set off north for Narrabeen lakes, we ventured up and down the main drag to finally find the Narrabeen Bait and Tackle shop- Wow what a Great Shop! We grabbed two bags of live nippers, some fresh prawns and a little white bait + a little extra tackle just to support to local guys. Poke our nose through the institute of sport, but found too many warning do not enter signs on the bbq area so we did a quick 180. We found a nice spot across from a little island which had a little sand bar close by. Threw my first line in with a live nipper to nail a decent flatty straight away from the other side of the river, was a fair fight with alot of line out to begin with, Next line in with a fresh prawn, straight away, just undersize brim, This continue pretty much all arvo, unfortunately all littlies so obvious catch and release. But a great arvo of reel spinning none the less. I think we totaled 2 flatties, a dozen or so brim, 2 whiting and some other striped whiting looking thing.. There were a heap of people in and around us, but they didn't seem to be catching anything at all...Maybe the fresh bait was doing us the golden deed? We did see a family keep little bream that was just wrong. I tried to call the maritime service to report them, but the service kept disconnecting me upon saying we are transferring you to a representative...wasn't impressed. My friend and I made plenty of loud " WOW another little UNDERSIZED fish" comments for the short hour they were there, I think they took the hint and packed up. Will be looking to go back and find there makers next weekend- looks like we were fishing in the nursery for babies... Mark Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  9. Thanks guys! I have had some decent luck at Gladesville, bream, Whiting and a few flatties. Standard catch and release as after i read the NSW fisheries post about not eating anything west of the harbour bridge im a little scared to. Narabeen Lakes....I think i will check this place out over the weekend. Just bought another rod, shakespeare with a dohhh reel...Some guy at my local fish shop said it was a great deal for $89... I was going to invest in more but he said go with this, a little japanese line and i was away... 8ft rod. quite nice, havent used it yet. See how we go tonight and over the weekend.
  10. Wow! Some hot butter after boiling in a pot...Yum! Awesome catch buddy
  11. Wow!. Top Fish, Great to hear she went back to the depths! Good effort
  12. Abecedarian, Thanks for the FYI! To be honest, untill i get the technique back; Flatties and bream should keep me sound, i wont try and Target Jews of Kings yet. I have a few decent spinning rigs up the coast which i must grab. The ones I have just bought are pretty light... Untill i start bringing in a few, and buying a bit more versatile gear and knowledge. I will most likely steer clear of rocks for the moment. I might check out Wharf Rd. Tonight or tomorow morning Thanks again champ!
  13. Hi Fisherman Friends new to the block and thought I'd say Hi! After a great trawling experience for kingies up on the central coast with family on a solid boat, I've got the fishing bug again! Bugger! I left all my fishing stuff up the coast....... Straight off to ****** for some Jarvis Walker Cheapies... So i went down to Balmain yesterday, using prawns and a bit of squid; but nothing! The water was choppy and a storm brewing so fair enough. Im thinking of taking a squizz under the iron cove bridge tonight, Any suggestions for me while im a land warrior? Ill most likely invest in a boat late next year, but in the mean time i must make do.. Thanks Heaps Guys Mark
