  1. Klaus from this site has tried a new floating line, Try PMing him, I think he goes by Stormy? I stocked up on dango wax while it was still available thankfully. Regards
  2. I've found in my bream luring that if the tailor are around its a good thing. Especially since zman lures have been around. They are tough enough to withstand the tailor and whatever the tailor are feeding on, usually tiny white fish of different types, the bream are also actively feeding on. Just my observation over the last two years. Matt
  3. One day during an unsuccessful blackfish trip in Yamba I cast out a mullet fillet on my blackfish gear and hooked and landed about 6-7kg jew. The unluckiest fish in the world swam downstream through the pylons and then back upstream through the same pylons. I was using some graphite fishing line that I think I won in a competition from Modern Fishing, definitely abrasion resistant! Matt
  4. Flathead are usually one of the target species, I would be getting some poddy mullet and a bunch of soft plastics and targetting the lower parts of the estuaries, North Harbour, Balmoral etc. Maybe even fish Hawkesbury with skirt steak Matt
  5. Be a little bit careful, pumping nippers and digging worms isn't exactly legal in the harbour. When Narrabeen lake is open the whiting fishing is pretty good on Narra/Collaroy. Matt
  6. Mate, you'll get into trouble showing backgrounds in your piccies harbour blackfish spots are super secret. Nice report BTW. Matt
  7. You've got yourself a new serial pest Royce! Seriously though Ozzybass has taught me well on bass fishing for the last few years. I've had great enjoyment with the bass fishing along with modest success!
  8. Changing barometer as Rick says. Not always low, but a falling barometer. A good place to look is the MHL website. If you look at the current barometric pressures its about 1020, and has been for the last few days. But, there are always incremental changes over small periods. The other thing to consider is rain, it has a huge influence on where the fish will be. Both in the system and in local areas. Once there is a bit of rain at this time of year, its a trigger for the fish to move en masse. Sometimes they will move downstream in preparation of spwning, sometimes they move out of the main body and into tiny creeks to feed. Matt
  9. there were two chinese guys in my course. one of them had next to no english and they both passed They were doing different tests by the way.
  10. I did mine yesterday with a company with mostly letters as its name, think alphabet. It was actually an excellent 1 day course. Theory in the morning, the written multi choice test and then an afternoon in the boat. Very practical common sense approach. I've been boating for 25 years or so without a license and thought it was about time I got one Matt
  11. Most problem fishos are lazy, if you are trying to fish at somewhere like the pines at North Narrabeen prepare to be annoyed. There are other places to fish, they take more effort but are worth the effort.
  12. The sand flats at Clontarf have plenty of poddies. If you are looking for Middle Harbour spot.
  13. http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/criticalhabitat/LittlePenguinNorthHarbourCriticalHabitatDec.htm this is the one.
  14. There used to be further exclusions north of Cannae point for anchoring close to shore, asomething about penguin habitat but I couldn't find the reference to it.
  15. don't think the piece about anchoring is right. I think they suggest you avoid anchoring in seagrass.
  16. I've not had any success with sugapens for bass, but they are great whiting lures. Some of the spinnerbaits bass take are huge as are some of the various buzz baits etc which can be enourmous.
  17. The thing about getting weed from the ocean rocks is the bugs that live in it. The little shrimp things that the blackfish love don't take long to go off, especially in that heat, usually they are only in the cabbage though.Nice fishing. Matt
  18. Big tip is that its practically a full moon and a huge tide. Which means where you are fishing is pretty important in the Hawkesbury. Matt
  19. That's a fairly unusual capture on line. I've done a lot of rock fishing over the years and never caught one, but I've snorkeled in some of those areas and there are heaps of them. Matt

Good post, although I think you are preaching to the converted in here
  21. That's cool. On the surface too. Matt
  22. It used to be beautiful down there, haven't fished there for 30 years jeez that makes me feel old. Matt
  23. I have had great success during winter when they are up on the shallow flats where the water is a bit warmer. Don't do that much luring for them these days during summer but it would make sense that they hold in water that might suit them a bit better. I think the more likely thing is to find the bait fish. They are never far away from schools of poddy mullet. Matt
