  1. Thanks mate, cant wait for summer so i can target my first kingies hahaha
  2. Hey guys, Im looking into targetting kingfish in botany bay off my kayak and need a new rod, reel and line. I launch from kyeemagh so i can only paddle to around the first runway. Because of this im not expecting hoodlums or anything just gear for rats to 70 plus kingies. Im looking into getting a wilson lcs rod about 10-20lb, a sienna 4000FD or a Fin Nor Rampage with a sealed drag, and 10kg line. Should i go lighter or heavier? Should i go with the Sienna or rampage? 2nd option is to go with a 3-6kg rod, with a 3000 reel, and 10lb braid. which one is the better option?? Cheers, Billy
  3. Thanks for the advice shaynemills and a days fishing, ill probably use the berley bucket as there isnt much current around kyeemagh/brighton, tie it to a fishing line and let that thing fly haha. What do you mean by current?? are you talking about crashing waves and whitewash or just flowing water??? @Geoff, unfortunately i didnt end up getting a boat, as my parents underestimated the price off a good tinny. Back to land based fishing i guess.....
  4. Hey guys, Ive recently thought about trying to burley from the shore around botany bay and brighton le sands, as i mainly fish the sand flats for whiting, flathead, trevally, bream and tailor. Any advice on how i can burley from the shore far enough to catch decent sized fish will be well aprreciated from a struggling fisho Advice on type of burley, method, type of bait or if it will even help increase my catch rate is what im looking for! Thanks Guys, Billy
  5. Hey guys, ive been shopping around for boats with a budget around 12 grand. specification wise i found the perfect boat for the bay, a stacer 455 seahorse with a 50 hp yamaha motor (electric start and power trim) but then theres one problem... its 7 years old. my dad is worried that the boat will depreciate significantly once it becomes more then 10 years old and that it will have to many issues that end up costing alot of money to repair. any help or experience with this topic is well appreciated. Thanks guys Billy
  6. Yes, the stacer contains all of the items you mentioned. can you please elaborate what elec start and power tilt actually does? as im a bit confused in that aspect. Do you reckon the stacer will handle botany bays sometimes choppy conditions, when put in comparison with the quintrex??
  7. Hey raiders!! Im finally buying a boat in which i can use to fish around Botany Bay, my dad has given me a budget of around 12 grand. im looking into buying an aluminium fishing boat to use around botany bay and will appreciate any advice i can take. Ill be fitting around 2-3 people in the boat, and because of that i wouldnt mind a nice stable boat bigger than 4m. If you guys can suggest a few decent boats fit for this purpose or give me advice on my current selections, i would really appreciate it: 1- 2007 quintrex 420 dory wide body with a 30hp yamaha motor for $8500 2- brand new quintrex renegade 420 with 30hp motor for $11790 3- 2005 stacer 455 seahorse with 50 hp yamaha tiller steer with electric start and trim and tilt. (fully rigged for fishing) for $11950 4- 2009 brooker 450 seaman centre console (converted) with 40 hp yamaha motor for $8000 Thanks in advance guys!! hope to see u on the water soon. Billy
  8. I wouldn't use poppers during winter as the fish are less active and sluggish in winter, during summer however i would use a small 50mm popper for bream.
  9. tyvm guys, i had a feeling they were all the same:D but wat about the true braids arent they different to fused braids, which is why im comparing sunline to fireline.....
  10. can someone please give me the best option out of the three categories listed above!!!!! cmon guys i wanna go buy my fishing line soon:D
  11. Thanks for all the input guys. I'm still a bit un decided but you have helped me narrow the decision to either 3lb Stren Microfuse, 6lb sunline pe, or 3lb power pro. Which one should i take out of the three? Thanks, Billy
  12. Hey raiders, I currently use 4lb fireline and i am curious to see if i can get any better lines particularly lines thatt cast further. I have heard that PE braids are the best braids for casting long distances but tangle alot at low . So my question is what is the best casting braid for 4lb line.
  13. I really doubt there is any good fish around that area, i have never caught or seen anyone catch big fish from over there, with that being said i have never actually used squid or pilchards there, but have used some plastics for flathead but have only caught baby ones. Just a heads up, you also cannot eat any fish around there as the waters there are heavily polluted. I shall try having a flick with pillys or squid in the near future and ill tell u how i go.
  14. Thanks for the help guys its well appreciated. Hopefully, i can catch you guys on the bay one day, i'll be in a green kayak... Regards, Billy
