On two previous occasions I have caught a decent flatty and a bream, and I find trevally to be there sometimes. Saw some Garfish swimming around tonight but had no idea how to catch them. Any advice anyone??
Cheers,
FishingGuy

Good work on the kings.
I can see that you were off the rocks.
I have almost given up on kings in the harbour but perhaps there is still some action outside the heads.
Cheers
A nice pair you got there.
Uni, work, weather all get in the way,
But you brought home the kings
It was a good plan well executedThanks guys

Well done mate. I'm ready to go at 5am this morning but without rain coat and young fella to take care of, i change my mind. I'm going tomorrow. I will be happy if i can achieve half of your result.
Yeah I find rain coat is a must, even if is not raining it always keep me warm and dry, good luck tomorrow

Good to see the weather didn't deter you. Nice fish !
yeah, It was so busy for last couple of months Exams, works, the World cup, I was so itchy for some action and itlte rain wont stop me

Calm condition and break from Uni make a great opputunity to fish, so dispite the rain could not let this pass by. Team up with a mate heading down south, armed with garfish and fresh caught squid from the day before this what we caught. A 68 cm and 72 cm kingfish on biomaster 4000xg 50lb braid, 50lb leader great fights and very lucky

Went out for a quick session before work with a mate. We got to the our spot around 530 quickly work the squid jig got couple of squids in about 15 min. There was couple of fisho fishing for tailor using pilchards with float through the night they got about 5 or 6 of them all good size, so as the sun's up we changed our tactic to spinning (rapala xrap xr12 and metal slice) with result in only 1 tailor. The other fisherman packed up around 7 and left, we relocated to their spot soon after but without any succeed. After a while my mate sworn to me that he saw couple of silver/yellowish body under the water, we change our gear again and turn out to be a great decision. Arm with strip of squid and left over pilly from the other guys this is what we caught, included 1 of my PB bream just shy of 44cm 1.5kg

No picture there mate, or it was too big to fit on the screen!

That only helps if you are a golfer!
Seriously, its not hard to pick. Did you make sashimi from the fish? If so post your recipe, we all like to learn more about eating fish raw.
Cheers
Paikea
Well done
yes, true it was a give away. and yes sashimi but nothing special, just thin slices with salad and wasabi in soy sauce, how would you eat them raw? Thanks

Caught my first king this morning after 3 months been trying using different methods from live squid, yakka, soft plastic, lure to spinning gars. Not thing big just right on the 70 cm mark, 2,8kg, I am still over the moon, just want to say thanks everyone for their shared knowledge and this wonderful site
I was spinning gar this morning, 50lb braid, 3 meters 50lb flurocarbon, 1 hook near the top hook size 6/0, rod daiwa sensor surf 12ft medium heavy, reel shimano stradic 5000fj upgraded carbontex drag washer, drag was just shy of being lock, caught it about 730 this morning just 2 hours before low tide off Eastern suburb stones

That was sensational, what a session, well done

Eastern suburb rocks

Seems like we had the same experience. At out maroubra today with my bro and 2 other mates...calm waters produced calamari but no kingies. Landed one decent sized trevally and burley brought in a tonne of yakkas but other than that pretty quiet.
well this is what keep us coming back isnt it?
