  1. Thanks yowie that helps alot. I've been fishing the deeper water too much
  2. Went out this morning for the 5th time in 2 weeks inside the hacking. Been to all my usual spots that have produced in the past but can't crack anything other than annoying bloody pinkies. Headed out the front today drifting off Shelley and oak park and got 4 flatties to 55cm and drifted around the bommie and got 3 decent size trevally and a just legal bream. Is anyone else finding inside very quiet or am I just having a bad run?
  3. Hey raiders on holidays up at noosa. Staying in a waterfront townhouse near the entrance of the canals. Threw out abit of chicken breast on a very light setup while I was cooking a BBQ. Couple of minutes later I'm chasing the rod down the 5m of grass bank in between our back porch and the water and I'm fighting something that feels pretty solid... Turns out to be a very healthy 35cm bream. Loving it up here
  4. Hey I'm looking at getting a shimano sonic pro 6-8kg to match up to a 4000 size reel. Want to use it to target jews in the hacking/ georges river. Anyone use one or have any other recommendations? Trying to stay under $100
  5. Sounds like a Jew to me. I've caught a few soapies in gunnamatta and know of some bigger ones caught there
  6. Hey raiders need to get rid of some old fuel that's been sitting in the tank thru winter. Any suggestions on how to go about this or where's the best place to do it? Might be a silly question but only a rookie when it comes to owning a boat
  7. Congrats mate that is huge!
  8. 2 years ago me and a mate were fishing in lilli pilli and he actually hooked one. It was such a dead weight we thought it was a big stingray and got the shock of our lives when it came up to the surface and took a breath. It was a massive one as well. My mate backed off straight away and put no pressure on it hoping that it would get free but he couldn't shake the hook. We really wanted to help it out and get the hook out of it's mouth but it was too strong and kept diving deep so we had no choice but to cut the line an let it go. Felt pretty bad about leaving a hook in such a beautiful creature but found out later that it's the right thing to do as you cause more damage trying to get it out so luckily we only fought it for a few minutes
  9. The first 4 casts resulted in a flounder about 20 cm long and 3 just legal bream. Threw them all back. Next cast I had to wait abit longer for a hit but when it came it was worth the wait. My reel starts screaming out of nowhere and my new 1-3 kg shimano raider rod is bent over to the point where I started to get abit worried that it might not handle what I've just hooked. After 10 mins of massive runs and headshakes I started to tire the fish out. The whole time I'm thinking this is going to be the best flattie I've ever caught. It just felt like a massive lizard. Anyways finally start to see some colour and realise it's a trevally. Abit dissapointed that it wasn't a big flattie but the fight it put up was unbelievable. Ended up being 49cm and solid. I've got the pics on my phone but can't upload them for some reason. After that went and picked a mate up from wallys wharf and went back to the same spot all the way telling him about how good my last hour has been. First cast back and within 10 seconds I'm on again and this time it's a very healthy 53cm flattie. After that it went quiet but it was a great afternoon to be out on the water.
  10. Hey raiders, Went out the sarvo at 4pm and started off flicking plastics around the flats at lilli pilli. After not much action ( only a couple of missed hookups) drove over to mainbar and pumped some nippers. Went back down to lilli pilli and started drifting with the freshly pumped nippers
