  1. that was a nice breambo indeed, the only advice with bait I can give is the fresher the better thats what Ive found anyway

Thanks :) I could not agree more. On weekend when we were fishing with prawns we brought frozen ones and there was nothing as soon as we bright freshly cached prawns and put them on we were getting bites like crazy, and landing some nice little whiting

  2. Soft plastics are good fun, especially good to help practicing casting etc. I was hooked on them a few months ago- although I moved to vibes/blades and found I had a better hookup rate although they are expensive and likely to get snagged especially when shore fishing... :1badmood:

I brought to vibes/blades to try. They are now gracefully rested at the bottom of the river near Jervis bay.... I understand your heart ache.

  3. Thank you all for the positive feedback. Yes it is addictive I was watching youtube last night on soft plastics and how to rig them. So i am looking forward to giving them a shot Australia Day!!!

  4. Hi all my name is Kristy. I have just recently about 4 months ago started to teach myself to fish. I went out and brought a rod asked the guy at the shop the best way to tie a hook and the best bait to us to get a fish. At this time I was on holidays by myself staying in atHideen Creek Camping Jervis Bay (what a great spot). So here i was a girl who has never caught a fish let alone know anyhting about it. I sat on the river there for 8 hours with a line in the water with Chicken yes Chicken breast and prawns as this is what the locals suggested for me. Sitting there waiting and waiting for a bite. I got nothing that day. The next day i went out again I was out there for 4 hours it was about 9pm oclock and still nothing some of the other campers there come down and asking how i was going as they had caught nothing either. Then finally my rod finally bent here i was this confused chick of shivers i have a fish and what do i do. So i start reeling it in and igot it up on the bank. I swear i ran through the camping sites there with this fish on the end of my line screaming to the other buddying fishers there. They were all excited telling me it was a bream and a great size fish :). Photo attached. I packed up for the night then.

The next day i was so happy with my catch up got up early and headed down to the bank ready for a great day of fishing (by this stage i now had a nsw saltwater fishy book so i could find out what types of fish and what sizes they could be). All excited I set up and through the line in with a peice of chicken. With in 2 mins bang I was on again. I reel this fish in and it was a little fighter, flicking itself every where. I get this almost 36cm fish up onto the towel i had on the bank to unhook him. This fish is flicking himself every where and unhooked himself before i had a chance i quickly snap a shot of him and searchthe book looking for it. A flat head I had (picture attached) So my second fish again a nice size. For the rest of the day i caught 3 undersized bream. I had the bug the FISHING BUG.

Since then I have tried Sylvannia waters under the tom uglys bridge unsuccessful there although I had a few bites. Wisemans ferry (although you would not keep the fish) got nothing there as well. I have tried Fresh water as well been to Pejar dam near Goulburn and tried to catch a trout there using powerbait unfortunately not even a little nibble to get me excited. Also tried wyangala dam all we caught there was dirty Carp (pic attached) although a guy close by with a boat caught a nice big COD! lucky bugger!

On weekend tried Wingdang there near the bridge had a great day fishing with some friends. We had lots of bites all day ended up coming home with 1 whiting and chucking back 6 or 7 undersize one. I must say the look of disappointment on my face when the guys close by to us caught a nicei would say 50cm flat head. All we were getting was whiting.

Anyway I am just hoping to share my fishing adventures and hopefullyget advise on how i can improve on catching fish. What bait or lures i should be using in certain areas and hopefully one day i will get a nice big fish worth showing on here!

    Happy fishing :)
