Thanks Chewie, good tips. Agree the passages between islands fished well esp for the mackerals. Picking the boat up from Hamo mid avo so first night likely to be in Cid Harbour - sounds like I might try to get up early and check the bommies nearby. Definitely planning to stay in Tongue Bay too. Got heaps of trolling lures ready and a few poppers but sounds like I might have to pack a few chrome slices too.Did you bottom fish at all Chewie?? BTW guys the dinghy does have an outboard (not just oars!!!) If guys can catch marlin from kayaks I'd have a crack at a GT from a dinghy - admittedly a 30kg model could give me some hurry up!!

Hi Guys, Am heading up to the Whitsundays for my 4th time at Easter - sharing a 40 ft sailing cat with another family - should be a hoot. Last trip nailed a nice spotted mackeral and a great spaniard, and even jumped off a small black marlin !!! - all trolling diving minnows behing a yacht on wire traces and braid. My goal this time is to catch my first GT - we'll have a dinghy this time so I'm hoping to do some popper casting (and trolling maybe). Does anyone have any good info on any particular GT hotspots in the Hook Island/Whitsunday island area??
