  1. Hey Guys,

I normally go to lion island everytime I fish. Get some decent fish around there. I was just wondering if there are any other good spots around there?

Where abouts is west reef? Is it nearby? DOes it produce good fish?

Wouldn't mind getting some salmon or Kingfish.

  2. Wouldn't mind having a sub, but anyways not really needed :P

Supercheap sell marine audio? I've never seen their stuff there. I always go there, I'll ask them instead.

  3. loco i have had schools out in BB where the hawksbury and pittwater meet, i have had them on the side of lion island that faces the horizon and on the other side of lion towards Umina way. cant rememer all the tidees amd things but just follow the birds and youll be in business :biggrin2:

Birds must hate me, I've never seen the birds work the surface yet :(

    Hopefully soon!

  4. Yellow fin Pike and I dont eat fish ,but they are top jew and kingfish baits when fished live

    Thanks!

Is there a legal size limit? Limit number to keep?

You don't eat fish? So you just go fishing for fun?

  5. I read the reports before i headed out. I knew there was going to be a strong change but it stated late afternoon.

I was fishing at lion island, and I don't have much experience at all with my 4.5 metre boat, I only purchased it recently. Anyway it's around 12.30pm, and i hear this gust of wind come through, the water begins to ripple instantly and i look around, there are no boats around (now i know why) and there are mini hurricanes on the water. I reeled everything in immediately, started to head out and soon as i got around the island, it was just scary!

Huge waves, waves crashing as if they were on the beach, I must admit i was pretty scared thinking the boat might tip over because the waves where by far the biggest I've ever seen around.

Was so glad to make it back to shore!!

:yahoo: We did catch a lot of fish though, but not worth your life!

When big changes come through, they pass this over the radio don't they?

  6. Love to catch that, congrats!!

Just a few questions, Noob questions! What do you mean by the following?

Luckily we saw the odd Tern ...

And when you talk about live bait used for the jewie, is that Mullet you are using?

  7. Mate if you take a walk on the wier early morning or in the afternoon you will see clouds of fish hanging around. Swarms of bream, blackfish, flathead, taylor and masses of mullet. Throw some bread around and you can really get the water boiling. At night time there is the constant splashing of mullet jumping.

I have actually considered getting a hand cast net and loading up on live mullet as prep for harbour jew fishing..however hand cast nets being illegal and all never got past the thinking stage.

    Yes I'm a newbie! What is a 'weir' ?
