  1. Thinking of replacing the ply flooring in my 4.75 ally craft with s/steel checker plate. No idea on thickness I will need or wether or not the checker plate is going to add more weight than using ply and effect the overall performance. Anyone done this in a similar size boat pushed along by around 50 hp and been disappointed? Cheers Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Thanks Sarge, That's how I read it as well so I think for our purpose my wife doesn't need a licence to operate the boat at the slow speed she drives it at on the odd occasion. We have always made sure that she is competent enough and familiar enough with the controls to at least beach it if I'm not able to and I'm sure if there was an emergency waterways will let that slide just wasn't sure about generally taking it while I'm doing something else. 3. Hi guys, Just looking for confirmation that I'm reading the nsw licensing requirements right. From time to time my wife (who isn't licensed) might take the wheel while I'm sorting something out. Normally involves something she has tangled/snagged or generally lost :-) If I'm reading the regs right she is not required to be licensed provided she doesn't exceed 10 knots even though the boat is capable of exceeding 10 knots. Can anyone confirm this for us please? When I got my licence I'm sure you had to have it if the vessel was capable of exceeding 4 knots regardless of what speed you made. 4. No worries mate, let me know how you go with it. If you go to bias and are as technically challenged as me it might pay to chat to them about using it. This one is in a plain white box so its a bit hard to find. They have a number of smaller bubble wrapped kits for buckets that look similar. Their product code is 4923 for the kit. 5. Scratchie, Sorry you must have missed my reply, I got mine at bias, $40. Bcf also have this one and a similar Johnson branded one on their web site around the same price. Cheers Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Thanks Geoff, that's looks like the way to go. Cheers Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. Thanks Gazza, does make sense when I look at it. There is a smaller length of the plastic aerator tubing that doesn't seem to go anywhere but I'm guessing that's for smaller buckets/eskies. The pump just has clips to the battery I was thinking of cutting the cable and wiring cigarette male and female sockets inline so I can turn it off and on without messing around with the battery box lid all the time, should work I think. The kit came from bias, about $40 plus clips and sockets for my on/off idea. Think I've seen this one and a Johnson branded one on the Bcf web site around the same price. I'm betting the Johnson one has an instruction sheet :-) ! Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. Hi People, Not being very technical I may have bitten off more than I can chew so hoping someone can give me some pointers. I got myself an esky live bait kit thinking no problems follow the instructions and bang it in an esky no problems. Big problem, no instruction sheet with it. Has anyone set up one of these beasts before? Cheers Steve Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Bargo River

Hi Raiders, Was thinking of having a crack at Bass in the local river, Bargo, and was wondering if anyone else is fishing it or am I wasting my time? Cheers Steve
  11. I did think after I got the bigger anchor that the extra chain might have been all I needed, forgot to mention that the only reason we needed a new anchor was because I forgot to check the shackle one day - who knew how far those things fly when they aren't connected! Lucky there wasn't anyone else close by or they would have worn it but at least I might have gotten it back. Seriously though its the extra chain that helps the anchor lay down and stay in place so if weights an issue try it with the anchor you have. If there's a bit of chop or swell try letting out a bit more rope than you normally would as well so you hang back from the anchor instead of lifting it as the boat rises. We are heading down to Sussex Inlet next week but normally fish the bay every couple of weeks so will keep an eye out for you. We are in a 4.75 Ally Craft with a green BImi. Not hard to spot us just follow the rain around the bay, we will be under that normally in the area thats blowing the hardest Quick pic of one of the girls we got last Saturday
  12. We are envious, sounds like a good day on the bay compared to our usual efforts and only a five minute rain cell. We normally wait until it rains for at least half a day before we try. Went out Saturday, pretty quiet with a couple of trevally at molli. Did get two nice flathead to 60cm close in a Sancs Sousi. We had heaps of drama's last year with the anchor that came with the boat. I went and got one that was a size up on the one that came with it but the real trick was extending the chain. We now run a length of chain that is one and half times the length of the boat, When we stop now we stay stopped. Gets a bit heavy pulling it all in but its worth it especially out around the drums and molli. I just shackled the extra length on so I can shorten it when the conditions are easier. Give it a go, much more relaxed fishing when you aren't worrying about banging into another boat. Cheers Steve & Kathy
  13. Bugger - Pies & chips again then
  14. Thats them, thanks mate. As far as edible goes with our track record we can't afford to be fussy if we want a feed
  15. HI All, Early start on Botany Bay this morning, great conditions, light winds. Set off to Towra Point for a spot of SP fishing and have a first go with pencils for whiting. Nice flathead on soft plastics so with dinner in the esky decided to give the pencils a go, Strada Viral 70's. Then...... I hooked what looks like a prehistoric whiting with teeth, I have no idea what they are, landed 3 with 2 over 47cm! Not even sure if they are edible? Photo, not very good, attached. Also managed a nice Tailor on the pencils Cheers
