  1. I always use the half pillie after noticing I got more takes. I much prefer the head part for two reasons, firstly more takes, secondly they stay on better when casting hard with the last hook going through the eye. I always use a 2 gang hook setup.
  2. My money would be on Salmon as well. I was in the car last week waiting at the lights to change at the intersection of Timbrell Drive and Dobroyd Parade not far from your spot (right were the canal comes out to the bay and is netted off). I allways look at the water (as fishos do ) and saw some surface getting busted up and seagulls getting all excited. I parked the car and across the road and walked back to check it out but didn't have any gear . The action continued for a bit and some guy who was walking came up and was watching with me said they were salmon as the day before one guy caught 2 of them on lure.
  3. Nice Salmon there mate. What time were they on the chew?
  4. Shimano Spheros, nice tuff reel.
  5. Like Spoooled said I would get a Shimano Catana 902. I got one as a back up to bash around and am very pleased with it. The symetre is a good reel but if you want something thats a bit more tuff I know it may be a bit out of your budget but I would get a Shimano Spheros.
  6. Lake Jindabyne has had atlantic salmon stocked in the past. Not sure if they are still there.
  7. Well done! I try and fish soft plastic for bream, flathead and trevaly and don't target jewies but always hope that I would get a jewie as a by catch.

I have the Daiwa Spellbinder model 702ULFS 7'/2pc 1-3kg 1-4g Ultra Light Spin. Can't rate it highly enough. I use it for soft plastic and sometimes blades targeting bream. I have hooked into large trevally and kings and it has handled it with ease, can't fault it.
  9. Hi mate, since most of the Shimano reels are made there are they any cheaper?
  10. Just a little back track. I have been pulled up by fisheries once who asked for my fishing licence and also wanted my drivers licence to conferm that it was mine.
  11. Done, and good luck with it. Don't forget to put a chapter on the code of conduct an angler should follow. Things like cleaning up after yourself and bag limits etc.
  12. Nice, even better that it was caught land based. Well done.
  13. Yeah they sure do stink. The smell keeps lingering on your hands after handling, even after washing. They make great bait as I think the strong smell is a contributing factor. I have never eaten them but am told they are ok tasting.
  14. +1 for Stanwell Park, great spot. I have noticed that the tailor there are more on the bite at night.
