  1. Try securing some chain or rope with a snap shackle like this, Make the length around 6inces-1foot away from the winch post, gently back the winch off till the shackle line comes taught then release the winch cable. All you have to do then is release the shackle remotely and the boat will fall away.

  2. I used to see a band in the eighties called Escape. Had the two fattest brothers you have ever seen up front. The lead guitarist had a set of extractors coming out of his guitar (it was the eighties). His weight loss program consisted of running his V8 into a tree at about 99mile an hour. Shattered his leg, gave up the grog lost a bit of weight and the band was never the same.

    80's aussie metal, my speciality

The beast as he was knowns name was john Sizmou and his guitar had a set of extractors mounted to it (no crap) They were south aussie based and used to open for the likes of Boss.

I strongly suggest you have a listen to the Kings of leon, very similar raw guitar stylings with a sllightly heavy edge to them, have a sus out on you-yube.

  3. If you can find a copy, Scream of the reel is a collection of fishing stories compiled in the 70's that has stories from all parts of the world including England USA and Australia and covers all forms of fishing from fly, sport and game, truly something for everyone.

Otherwise Bethune on bass is a favourite at this time of year for me!

  4. Has anyone made some curtains for the windows of thier half cabin? IF so how did you attach them without drilling through the cab?

Adhesive velcro onto the cabin and sewn onto the curtain.

  6. Notwithstanding that, different states and territories have different laws and regulations. I am lead to believe that all states will be bought into line with a federal set of rules and regs in the next couple of years however so the rules will be uniforn across the country. Perhaps we should be more concerned about current legislation in Victoria where you have to wear a pfd anytime, anyplace in a boat under 4.8meters loa, I can see a 30cm bowsprit going onto my boat real quick. :(

  7. So what about the bloke out fishing during the day in a little 10 or 12 foot tinny that doesn't have any nav lights, He's not breaking any laws. Are they going to make it that you're not allowed to be out in a tinny with no nav lights even during the day anymore incase they break down and end up out there in the dark?

    I think not.

No , if the boat is not fitted with nav lights thats fine, but obviously the boat can NOT operate from dusk till dawn. The point is though that if any boat is fitted with nav lights regardless of whether or not the owner wishes to use it at night,, they must be compliant to the applicable laws and be fully operational on request (day or night). removable lamps are fine provided when requested they are compliant to the law.

  8. Right at the moment I'd be throwing plastics at the flathead in the channel, probably around the 5" mark in any of the "chicken" colours and in around 15 feet of water. they arent fighting until they feel the net though.

  9. I went and saw DEVO on Friday night. :1prop:

they appeared to be a bunch a fat bastards in jump suits with funny hats and a bad sound.

    Anyone see them?

I must correct you there Ceph, they are not funny hats, they are in fact "energy domes" but i hear ya all the same, its just not the same 30 years on is it? :1prop:

Yes I was a massive devo fan.

  10. Hi all,

As soon as Im starting to take my biat fyrther away from the shore - can somebidy please help me fith following?

    1) Getthng VHF radio - is there aplace in Syd/Sutherland shire area where I can get the certificate?

    2) My reading of the rules is that - as soon as my boat is less than 8m - EPIRB is not compulsory (though recommended) - even if I'm more than 2nm offshore?

    Thanks

    kruzenvax, in answer to your questions;

The local coast guards organise courses for around $200 inc license fees.

Your understanding of the epirb rule is the same as mine.

    Cheers

  11. I heard about this a few weeks ago but didnt take any notice as I though it just to be rumour, at the same time, I did hear however that Shimano global would be looking at rationalising the amount of shops selling the product and being more "selective" in thier choice of resellers with a favourable leaning to the larger groups and chains.

  12. Wifey has the 7"6 Lipstix rod and its quite a nice rod to use (not that Id know) She ended up with the Okuma callyn reel which also has quite a nice feel to it however I did replace the handle as it had one of those small baitcaster type handles on it.

  13. Have driven many 23-25's fitted with Penta diesel 200 (adaq40's) through to the latter 230-250hp's and they are an excellent combination Sunnyboy, good economy and awesome performance (from memory around 25knots cruise and 35knots WOT). Obviously some manouverablilty is lost with the single but it is still more than adequate.

  14. hi Sqizzytaylor

thanks for the info mate we're staying at Gwandalan area

    cheers

Brett, Gwandy is full of shallow areas that should hold fat lazy lizards at thisa time of year, in fact i was shocked at the lack of fight I got yesterday but start shallow and work your way out. If you have no luck let me know and I may be able to organise a boat (nothing but the best POLYCRAFT) trip on the lake.

    Cheers

  15. I got out for a couple of hours yesterday Brett, trolled up 4 lizards between Toronto and Coal Point with a hardbody. Otherwise Tailor have been about near Pulbah Island and also around The Coal Point-Wangi areas.

Plenty of reports locally of good size flathead been caught consistently in most locations at present.

Which area are you staying and I may be able to point you in a more specific direction.

    Cheers

    Geoff
