It does have new spark plugs. Yeh, i might take it to a mechanic. Gazza u hv one that u use or can recommend one?

Hi Neil. Yeh the spark plugs are new and leads are fine bcos it produces blue sparks when cord is pulled. Kill switch is also taken into consideration. I just had another go at it with EVERYTHING u, Scratchie, Gazza, Steve and Mike has mentioned and to no aval. Im sure i did everything right including checking all hoses and electrical wiring are connected and not blocked. If i cant work this one out by next week, i just have to spend more $$$ and get it to a mechanic. Anyone know a reputable one? I found one in bankstown from white pages.

Heya Gazza Yeh i took out the bolts in seq as there are numberings next to the bolts. I did replace new the gasket seals too. I with i could bring it back to the dealer but i bought the tinny privately and it did fire up when tested at the time. As for the kill switch lanyard, yes it is connected. Omg...what a headache. Im on leave and have been stuck on dry land for 2weeks with all this beautiful weather teasing me! Sigh!

Yes. When i prime the bulb, it squeezes and u can see fuel fill up in the fuel filter. I dont have key start on this. Just pull start so it doesnt hv a starter motor. OMG. Sigh of relief that the POP was caused by too much fuel and not that burnt out something. I briefly spoken to a marine mech in bankstown and he said it could be that the fuel was too lean and also the fuel is not getting to the engine. Well the motor is going from 25:1 to 50:1....and i do recall that i have not primed it enough bcos the bulb was still squeezable. Should the bulb be firm to be fully primed?

Good morning Steve Yes i did bcos there is one short and one long leads for the two spark plugs. The short lead goes on the top plug as it is closer to the power supply and long lead to the bottom. Thanks T

G'day Scratchie. How are u mate. When i took the plugs off,they were dry and had the usual black heads. I even took the gasket head part (where the spark plugs goes in) and cleaned it out. I replaced the gasket seal and sealed it and left to dry for 2days before cranking the pull start again. I know that there is combustion. I got new fuel and mixed a 50:1 oil ratio to it. I know that there is sparks from the plugs (blue/white sparks).....but just NO ignition to kick the motor over. Whats worst, my last attempt to pull start it, it gave out a loud pop like a firecracker than smoke came out of the exhaust areas. Then i quickly took the spark plugs out to inspect and they were normal. Still shiny silver as new...tho smoke also came out from the spark plug holes. Any idea why it POPPED?? Regards T

Leo, thanks for the mechanic but do u know of any around Sydney. The motor weighs 75kg otherwise i need to tow the tinny with me. Mike, the owner prior to me was running it in as it only done 10hrs and he was running it at 25:1 ratio. The time i took it out, i ran it on his left over tank so it has oil. Any other thoughts? Been on google and a guy had loud pop and smoke and his thread suggested he look into his flywheel and OEM key? What is an OEM key? Didnt want to take the flywheel apart as i do want to damage motor even more.

The motor is only 11months old and has about 11hrs on it. Its just out of warranty. Would you know a good mechanic that wont cost me both my arms? Any advice is most appreciated too. Cheers

Hi raiders. This is my first ever post anywhere so please excuse the boredom. Not sure if you hv heard of Sail engines before. Apparently it is a copy of Yamaha. Anyways i bought this tinny with a 30hp Sail motor on it. Tested it on the driveway and the motor started and ran. Got it home and a few weeks later, i went out on the bay and i tried pull starting it, it felt like the cord was locked. Eventually i got it started and motored out to the bay. Once at my fishing spot i stopped the motor and later tried starting it again and it would not barge! The pull rope just wont pull out. It felt like it was jammed. After a tiring 30mins it started and i went straight back to the ramp. I recently had the lower gear oil changed, got new spark plugs and new Yamaha filter (part no.692-24410-00), and had the carb rebuilt and cleaned. The gasket was taken apart and clean as well. Now the dam thing wont start! The pull cord is not as hard (jammed) to pull. The motor turns but seems like there is no ignition to kick start the motor. There is blue sparks on both he spark plugs but there seems to be no kick to turn the motor over and run. Furthermore, at my last desperate attempt to start it today, i tired pull starting it a few more times and there was a loud POP ( like a firecracker) and smoke coming out of the exhaust system and the propeller area. In addition, i removed the spark plugs and there was smoke coming out of that too. During every attempt at pull starting the motor, i had fresh water connected to ear muffs on the intake. Please help.
