    Narooma

Hi all I'm planning a fishing trip down to Narooma for three days next week - all land based but will be hiring a boat at some stage. As we have never been there, can anybody offered any tips for areas to fish - be it beach or lake? Cheers Steve B
  7. Hi mate I fished at the enterance yesterday and very busy. I decided just to use some soft plastics (thanks to the tackle shop in the middle of the enterance as he convinced me to use plastic rather than bait) and walked out to the sand banks between the enterance and the bridge. Had a great time and caught a nice one - 1st one ever on a plastic. Nobody around me as I walked out to the last sand bank before it went deep in the north side channel but I wouldnt worry about the boat as just too much hassle and traffic in a small area. I was laughing about how many boats in such a small area. Good luck Steve B
  8. Hi Raiders Out in mates boat for day. Started with livies at Little Pitt water bay. 1/2 dozen in 15 - 20 mins. Burlied up with pillies. The headed out for a troll past barrajoey but nothing. Then back to Juno for 1 hour. Only a small hammer head shark and just legal flathead - on prawn (king prawns bought from fish shop - just peel and bring home whats not used). Then back over to the south head land of Little Pitt Water Bay - around 20 metres from shore. Caught around 15 undersized jewies (around 35cms) - on pillies and prawn plus a 46cm flathead on pillie plus a huge travelly - around 55cms but plently thick - on prawn. Then headed down little shark point for really very little. Overall great day but gees there was some boats out on the water. Cheers Steve B
  9. Tom - Kurt - many thanks for the fishing tips. On Saturday we had a bad start as we had a flat tyre then forgot about 1/2 the bungs, then forgot about the map, thne the motor started reving up and down. So we started trolling as you mentioned Tom and got stright onto a Bonito. Nice. But we ended up straight out to the first island and within 5 mintues had a couple of 40cm flatheads on board. Used pillys and squid. Then one of the guys was sick and we had to come back in. Wasnt that rough but more like a washing machine swell. Spent the next couple of hours inside and really only caught small sharks and some flounder. Once he came good we once again headed just outside. Then the wind died and was just tops - plently of fish (flathead/small snapper - 1 x bonito) then the other guy decided to have a chuck. Gees tough crowd and day. Sunday was ecellant. No problems this time around and we ventured out to where Kurt mentioned. Tops - on it all day and around 10am we went around to the front of the island and was non stop small to mid size snapper and flatheads - 35-50cm. Most were keepers and around 50 fish for 1/2 day. Just ran out of bait and we had to get home. Not alot of photos as we sent everything back. Great sports fishing and thanks to Tom and Kurt as we didnt have a clue on where to go. Much appriecated Regards Steve B

  11. Hi everyone Sorry I dont post much as I tend to read all of your reports. They are great to read each night. This weekend the brother in law has lent us his boat (txs Champ) so we intend to head to Nelsons Bay for a fish. The million dollar question is what spot(s) and where abouts? 16ft so we can head outside up to 2nm. Any info would be appriecated. More after sports fish (i.e - kings etc) - Are there any current reports? Are there any known fishing tackle shops up in that area that are fishraider fans? Txs Steve B

  19. Thanks Stewy and Tricks. Fished Watts, Mollineaux Point (so did a thousand others), entry into the heads and third runway but not much success. Caught a few Port Jackson sharks and quite a few rod cods etc but nothing to write home to mummy about. Didn't see anybody else catching much. Water seemed very cold (18 degress at the heads and 20 further in). Thanks for the offer Tricks. Didn't see this until this morning so we thought we would just try the spots the Stewy mentioned. Still, great day out Regards Steve B

  23. Hi All Just wanting to know if it is okay to pump for Yabbies in Yeomans Bay etc?? Is there any very good spots that I should try? Thanks Steve B
  24. We (2 of us) fished today at Boltons for entire day - 9am onwards, and didn't stop bringing them in and caught everything including a large blue groper. Some great table fish, snapper and bream. When we first went out there, there was approx 10 boats but all ended up leaving. Had squid, pillies and hawkesbury prawns. No good on anything other than the prawns, which we ended up running out of. Would have been interesting if we had live bait. One of the best days I had outside Hawkesbury Steve B
  25. Hi Shaun Nice photo and fish. Can I ask what area you went to to get the squid. I spent several hours today in hawkesbury trying to get some and nothing. Thanks Steve B
