  1. Hi Ya Could you please put Elena ( Keen Fisherwoman ) & Tom ( Stillrockn ) In for this one . May the Weather Gods be kind Cheers Tom
  2. Paul As a fellow new member I know you will enjoy sharing your fishing experiences with fellow fishraiders. Great catch you had there. What SP's did you catch your flatties with? Elena
  3. Thanks guys for all your praise and positive feedback. The prize was a Bravo Fishing Charters cap, but to me my prize was to actually have caught the biggest fish. I enjoy reading your fishing reports, so keep up the good work (or should I say fishing) Elena
  4. Hi, I'm a new fishraider member although I have been reading your topics etc as I am Tom's (stillrockn) partner. It is Tom who brought the world of fishing into my life and now I thoroughly enjoy it. Knowing how much Tom loves his fishing, I was thrilled to learn that our local shopping centre had a father's day competition to win a day out on a deep sea fishing charter. I was even more thrilled when I won. Better still it was for two people. So yes, I decided I would go too. Only hitch, I was paranoid that I would get seasick so I bought my travelcalm tablets and even got a seaband (which a friend of mine uses when she goes deep sea fishing) On Sunday 8th October we woke up at 2.30 am to start our day. We, along with 12 other winners from the mall, set of at 3.30am, taking us to Cronulla (via Bonnyrigg plaza - to pick up some other winners) Bravo Fishing Charters departed from Gunnamatta Bay at 5.30am. John, the captain drilled us on procedures, which was very informing. Fish from the right side of the boat, left side is for burley (or should I say the people who get seasick) Interesting how many liked that side of the boat. Especially ME!! Biggest fish of the day wins a prize. The sunrise was beautiful and I took some lovely photos of that and Cronulla. It kind of was special for me because I was born and grew up in Cronulla, so it was great to see it from out at sea. It took us an hour and a half to get to our destination, which was near Stanwell Top. On our way we saw dolphins swimming near the boat and a whale in the distance. My first episode of seasickness started at 7.30am and unfortunately continued throughout the day. Thankfully I wasn't the only one who was sick. Two other guys joined me. One was worse than me cause he just layed down all day and didn't fish at all. I still fished when I felt a bit better. There didn't seem to be many fish getting caught considering we were deep sea fishing. My thoughts were that Tom and I do better in Botany Bay. But this was an experience I couldn't miss out on ( I just wish I didn't get sick so much) Tom caught a snapper which was a good size. Finally, after hours of fishing and being bitten of by leatherjackets, I caught my fish. I was just thrilled that I caught a fish. It was a morwong. But wait, not only did I catch a fish I caught the biggest fish of the day. Now that was the biggest thrill for me because I'm not a real good fisherwoman (Just ask my kids) and I was the only woman amongst 15 men. Just after my catch we had to leave our fishing for the day as the southerly that was predicted for later in the day came up with such speed. One minute we were fishing in calm water and the next minute there were white caps everywhere. It was amazing how fast the weather changed and the conditions at sea could become dangerous. I had my photo taken with the biggest fish of the day, but as I was standing there I still felt so sick (so it definetly is not a good photo of me) The fish looks great however. I recovered quickly when we reached terra firma. It was a great experience to go deep sea fishing, I enjoyed it even though I was seasick all day. I think I'll stick to the bays and rivers in future. p.s. My morwon measured 54cms. I've had trouble posting this ( the photo was supposed to be smaller and at the bottom of my posting. Elena
