  1. maybe the pro's cleaned up this year.

has anyone seen hairtail at the fish markets lately or do the pro's export them?

it's a shame, hey. i've tried twice this season for zip.

  2. have you considered adjusting the refresh rate on your unit?

also, sound will travel through the water at a constant rate regardless of which transducer you use. ie: the deeper it travels, the longer it takes to bounce off the bottom and get back to you. whether or not your transducer has enough juice and sensitive enough to pick up the attenuated/weak signal is another issue.

    tech talk aside, GO FURUNO!

  3. i saw it too. may as well have put up a picture of netted dolphins.... ignorant #@!$%%%%ers.

    what's worse,

they talked about how the price of mullet has dropped since those irresponsible foreigners are competing with farmed mullet. it's a good thing this year's net loads are up on previous years hey? top article. great way to sustain a fishery.

  4. I have been told that to get the salt out of your motor you sholud run it for at about 15 minutes till it gets to running temperature , that way the salt will be loosened and flushed out of the motor. Otherwise it doesn't do much at all

    interesting.

before they closed off the taps at roseville ramp the signs said maximum 3 minutes per engine flush. pretty dodgy, eh?

  5. can anyone tell me where i can source some old fishing videos? has anyone come across a collection in a tackle shop or know of a rental place that stocks them... the local video ezy and video king just don't cut it.

i would even consider purchasing second hand if anyone is interested in selling. pm me.

    thanks.

  6. there at spot XXX.

mate use your sounder and you will find them.

even better watch a few sydney fishing dvds and again good pointers there.

they are a bit harder to find at the moment but still around

someone should post a photo of what they look like on the sounder to help out this poor fisherman ;)

  7. Hi there - you are talking about Greenwich I guess - good kingfish spot - but you must fish light (meaning not heavy sinker ) and not cast far - it does not matter where u fish there. Kings cruise past -- I fished there 2 times in the morning - did not pay attention to tide. Live cuttlefish are dynamite there. I dont catch jew there, does not have the day time structure i like, but yeh you get them at night there, as i know the yellowtail conggreagte there. Day or night i like to fish where there is bait, when fishing for for jew.

    thanks for the tip.

i stopped fishing there after the dioxin scare but it used to be a sweet spot.

"Day or night i like to fish where there is bait, when fishing for for jew." lot's of chopper tailor at that spot if you berley them up. there's even better baitgrounds around that way if you speak to some of the regular saliling club fishos ;)

  8. Unless u want heaps of undersized snapper or u wanna lose 5 packets of gulps to toadies, leather jackets, and chopper tailor dont even bother with port hacking, its a hole! Lilli Pilli was on fire for me a few yrs ago with an assortment of pelagics aswell as some decent bread and butter fish but these days i have no luck. could the water be TOO clear???

agreed. it seems very seasonal. i don't find it too consistent, but when the pelagics were in a few years back the fishing was hot.
