  1. Great! Thanks everyone! I will go to the BP! Regards, Breambo
  2. Hi, Still looking? Has anyone in Sydney been able to source any chicken Gut recently? Thanks, Breambo
  3. Hi, I have tried as best as I can all the suggestions including ringing all the chicken farms near Blacktown & Pendle Hill etc. Years ago, these places would sell me a bucket of fresh chicken gut! Now they all say they don't have any for sale! I also tried different fishing shops including Takle world ( Drummoyne & Taren Point) the fishing shop at Kings park) everyone says they aren't able to source fisho anymore! Previously, I had little trouble obtaining chicken gut! From the feedback from one of the fishing shops, it seems it may be possibly not enough profit in it anymore? If anyone knows who has any for sale in sydney, I would be most grateful? Thanks , Breambo
  4. Thanks everyone! I will try these suggestions! Breambo
  5. Hi, I have been trying to get frozen Chicken gut for some time. Just before x-mas, I was told at the fishing shop that they would be able to get some by late January! Well it's now february and now I have been told that they can't get any chicke gut! I live in the inner west. If anyone knows who has frozen chicken gut I would be most grateful! Breambo
  6. When the mullet are running in the estuaries, sometimes the bream will only go for the mullet. If that's the case a whole sea mullet could serve you well. In Berowra, Where I usually fish that is usually late April-May. if you are fishing for bream try chicken breast if the water is relatively clear? If the water is dirty I usually do very nicely on chicken gut. Cheers
  7. Hi, The flats are really good for bream and flatties. For Bream a 3 foot trace using about 6lb line. For bait you can't go past chicken breast when the water is clear and chicken guts when the water is coloured. For flatties, 1/2 pilchards or soft plastics or even hawkesbury prawns are good. Good Luck! Breambo
  8. I use number 2 long shank chemical sharpened hooks. Works really well for bream of all sizes but the really important thing to do is to buy a hook sharpener and always sharpen your hooks after catching a couple of fish and to use new hooks for every trip. Try this and your hook-up rates should improve. Breambo
  9. Hi Darcy77, Fished berowra yesterday for 6 bream to 34cm and 1 flathead. All caught on chicken and chicken guts. Been using lures recently for flatties not having much luck. I think we need more hot days before the fishing improves. Talked to a local recently and he said bream up to 4lb were being caught. Haven't caught any jewies at berowra lately either apart from really small soapies.
  10. Thanks for the advice fellas. Will give it a go. Breambo
  11. Hi, JUst wandering how Nelson Bay landbased is fishing since the rain? Any spots worth trying?
  12. Hi Prawnstar, That's an excellent catch! What did you use in the berley?
  13. The Sunday Telegraph lures are great! I caught a 2kg flathead in Berowra Waters in January with one of them and today caught a 50cm flathead with the same lure before the tail got chewed off. If they repeat the offer I think I will get a couple of those soft plastics.
  14. That's an excellent Berowra Jewie. What did you get him on?
  15. Great catch! What baits worked best for this catch? Breambo
  16. Yeah, Chicken is a very much underated bait for bream and other species. When you consider that that chicken breast is about $11.00 a kilo compared to $29.00 a kilo for Hawkesbury prawns I know which bait I prefer to use. Also "Bluebottle 18" I am from the western suburbs and the boat is at my dads place at Marayong as I don't have a backyard that's whyI generally fish I Berowra & the Hawkesbury. Have been fishing Berowra with my dad since 1975; but it is only in the last couple of years that we are getting consistency on the Bream. Peter
  17. Hi Raiders, Went bream fishing with my dad on thursday morning at Berowra. Lauched just after 6.30am and proceeded to the first spot. Almost immediately dad caught the first legal size bream. Soon after we caught 3 more. Then it went quiet. After a while we moved to the next spot but no good. We moved again and again but alas nothing except cockeyes. Then the tide changed and we went back to the second spot but this time we were sitting better. We started catching good size bream again. We were running out of chicken breast so I kept baiting with mullet. Could only catch cockeyes with the mullet. So again I used the chicken breast. All up 12 bream today the biggest 35cm. So we were very pleased with this. Funnilly all the legal bream were caught on chicken breast. Peter
  18. Hi The Butch, Onion refers to the heart of a mullet and is very hard and usually a very good bait for bream Peter
  19. Hi Raiders, Me and Tony went for a fish yesterday at berowra. Started fishing at the first spot just before 7.00am. Caught a lot of cockies at this spot so we moved on. Got to the next spot and the tide was going good. Only there for a few minutes before we landed the first bream on mullet. Then another and another. Caught a good size flounder ( for Berowra anyway). Tony caught a few as well on onion. Tried a bit of chicken as well also caught keepers. Stopped just after 11.00am very satisfied with a total of 9 fish. Peter
  20. Thanks guys for the feedback. The Hawkesbury seems to be one place that ( and I am sure that there are others) that you can spend a long time looking for fish and if you make mistakes you don't catch "em. I have found for most of my fishing on this great river It is best on the small tides and after the rain gives you a good chance of getting a feed. Peter
  21. Hi Raiders, Launched the boat at Brooklyn just on 7.00am not knowing what to expect. Got to the first spot and baited with chicken breast on 2 rods. It wasn't long before the first bream was caught. Put the rod out again and shortly the rod goes again - another bream. Just got it to the boat when my other rod was going so handed the rod and the bream to my dad and pulled in the second rod with another bream. Then as the sun was coming into view it went quiet. Got some pillies out and prawns while we waited. Soon we decided to pack up and move and just before my dad got his last rod in off it went with a good size bream. We kept moving and went and anchored at the second spot. This time in the current although the tide had slowed considerably. Put a yellowtail rod out and I also put out a whole pilchard on ganged hooks. Put a handline out with a prawn on it. It is a bit blurred from here as we started to pull bream, yellowtail, small tailor and flatties in the boat. I was continually retying hooks and putting light traces on my bream rod. All up we finished with 7 bream, 4 flatties, Fished for jew with squid and live yellowtail, but no runs. Also lost a large blue swimmer on the surface. Got back to the ramp just before 1.00pm and a bloke at the ramp had caught approximately 30 bream, flatties, small jewies and a little reddy. I reckon he was fishing close or at flint & steel because of the reddy. It shows that if you go the right time you can still catch fish in the hawkesbury. All up a very satisfying day. Peter
  22. Hi Fishraiders, Went for a fish in Berowra with my dad yesterday. Feeling quite anxious as had not had a good catch for a long time. Anyway the water was fairly muddy so I baited up with Chicken guts on 3 rods and waited. Didn't have to wait long as a 27cm bream soon hooked itself. Put the rod back in the water and another bream committed suicide. We decided to stay at the same spot for the rest of the morning and ended up with 7 bream to 33cm and a 49cm flattie. All caught on chicken gut or chicken breast. Peter
  23. Hi Raiders, Went for a fish at Berowra Waters yesterday with my dad. Things started off very slow however, picked up later in the day towards midday. Best bream 37cm. Best bait chicken breast. Breambo
  24. Caught in our boat. Breambo
