  10. ive got an iphone app called marlin size. You need a short length; ie lower jaw to tail. i will estimate that 3m would convert to about 2.2 shortlength. the app estimates your fish at about 75kg
  11. I fish singles. My reasons are varied; safety-a free swinging hook with a marlin thrashing around could pin the decky when removing the other hook setting the hook-takes less pressure to set one hook rather than 2 fishes well being-if a fish was to bust me off it could end up with one hook in its lower jaw and one in its top pinning its mouth shut and making it unable to feed. cost-i have far too many lures and adding an extra hook to all of them would send me broke.
  12. planning a trip to port stephens in january to tangle with some marlin.. Want to take a crew of 4 with me and have 2 spots open. Boat is a 35 Bertram with pelnty of bunks and shower, toilet, kitchen etc, so the trip will be a live-aboard arrangement. Leave sylvania marina about 6pm tuesday 18/1 and return to sylvania Marina Sundy arvo 23/1 about 4pm. estimated cost about $600 a head to cover expenses. All game gear provided.

    Berly Trails

there were a couple of #@$%! at browns yesterday. We were cubing and obviously so and charterboat trolld stright over our lins about 30 metres away from my boat and cut off one pf our lines. Over the next hour he kept moving from spot to spot and managed to park himself in our trail 3 times. We also had another idiot troll about 30 m from our boat, again on the side we were fishing and manged to pick up both lines and strip about 200 metres of line from each reel before we got to the knife and cut the lines befor risking being spooled. The next tim it happens im going to start up the boat, chase after them and drive straight across their lure spread, and see if they get the message.

  15. me and a mate are in if its on a saturday. Im tied up sundays coaching football
  16. i cant help uou much when it comes to 25s but i bought a 35 bertie about 6 months ago. I started looking at 28s and eventually ended up realising that they would be too small for the family. I ended up spending double what i initially wanted to spend, but my wife and i are thrilled that we did. We spend evry weekend, from friday afternoon till sunday night?monday morning out on the boat. We have friends and relatives come and stay with us for a night or the whole weekend. No one has ever said "i wish we bought a bigger boat" after buying a 35. That said i know everyone has a budget and i was probably in a position to strech mine further than most. But no matter what you get i suggest you get a diesel shaft drive. i wouldnt even consider anything else.
  17. can anyone tell me if i can get a 35' flybridge cruiser in to pick someone up off the pontoon there. If i cant would i be able to do it at the kyeemagh/cooks river pontoon.
  18. fish must be kept whole except for immediate use. Immediate use can be cutting up a fish for baits or filleting for your own consumption. So fire up the barbie and eat up.

    Advice Please!

i have a quintrex freedomsport that comes with a 60 litre tub under the floor that i have set up as a live tank. I set up the basic scoop with a 360 pump on the transom. The scoop picks up on the run and the pump With on/off switch located in a side panel) is used when at rest. the hose enters the boat under a small removable piece of floor. There i have a hose connection that is like a double adapter. Attached to one side is a coiled hose with trigger nozzle that is used as a deck wash. The other runs a length of hose under the floor and through the side of the tank about 3/4 up from the bottom. There it attaches to a peiece of irrigation tube, blocked at each end, with several holes along it that runs the width of the tank as a spray bar. That takes care of the water getting in. to get the water out, at one end of the tank i have a 500 pump that has a float switch. The pump is on a small block of wood so that the tank gets close to full before the float switch kicks in. The reason i have a more powerful pump for the exit is to ensure that it can keep up. It just kicks in and out as reuired. It is also better euiped to keeping up with the volume of water coming in when on the move, but tis can be fine tuned also as the double adapter connection has switches which allows either or both outlet to be shut off or even partially closed off. The hose i have running from the exit pump runs under th floor to the back corner of the boat and out the self draining hole in the side of the hull. To get it out that hole i did have to cut a small section out of the floor in the back corner as the drain hole is just above floor level. I hope that is clear. I would post photos but i am technologically retarded If you or your mate wanted to come and have a look at it on your next trip to botaany bay i would be glad to show it to you. I live at Sylvania
  20. Alrighty...ive decided to get 2 pumps, one bringing water in, the other pumping it out. I figure both of these pumps have to be the same to balnce the input with the output. I wanted to get 500gph pumps but the bloke at witworths gave me 360gph pumps with out me noticing. Will these pumps be enough for a 60 litre tank or should i return them and get the 500gph that i wnated. Or should i even g up to 800gph.
  21. i was thinking of that but if i could do it the other way i would save the price of the pump and the skin fitting and avoid putting another hole in the boat. Also the extra pump would be in use as much as the auto bilge pump, negating any power saving in regards to the battery. Your method does remove the risk of ending up with a hull full of water should the auto bilge pump break down so its definately got me thinking.
  22. Generaly if i hooked a fish in the mouth i release it. If ive hooked it in the throat or gut it ends up as my dinner.
