    Blue Bottle?

Yeh thats a pretty decent sized blue bottle aswell! I havnt seen many that big around Sydney lately but let me tell you even the littler ones can give you a nasty sting! A couple of years back I was swimming in the surf at Manly, ducked under a wave, came up and a blue bottle was wrapped around my neck! Stang like hell for about 20 mins then was very, very itchy for about a week or two after that! Steer clear of these suckers! Cheers, Blayne
  2. thanks raiders, yeh it was pretty fun catching a few yesterday, scenery is nice on the nepean. ill be out there again for sure soon, but im going to try early morning instead and try and avoid the ski boats hopefully we can get onto a few bigger ones next time cheers blayne
  3. sorry, i wasnt sure if it was you or not so I didnt say anything. I feel like an ar$sehole now next time for sure. Yeh thats Katie, she said she was talking to a nice lady while I was getting the car, she didnt know who you were either. cheers, Blayne
  4. Was that you in the green polycraft? Yeh I saw you at the ramp at sunset, didnt know for sure if it was you though. Next time we'll have to have a chat then, sorry for my ignorance I was a bit flustered trying to manouvere around the thousands of skiboats at the ramp! Me and my girlfriend were in the boat today, had a great time. Except for the millions of skiboats, man they were annoying me! Cheers, Blayne
  5. Yeah I said hello to Suffo and I think I saw Mr and Mrs Swordfisherman at the ramp at sunset. Heres my biggest fish of the day, full report in fishing report section
  6. Gday, Caught my very first Bass today! Been trying for a while but today was the day, and not only that I caught a second one not long after. First fish went about 20cm and the second, well lets just say itd be lucky to be 10cm! Both fish were caught in the Nepean just into the Narrows on the western side of the river, sort of near the 8knot marker infront of a big rock wall. I caught them both on a Kokoda "The Bat" Cicada popper in Black colour (You can see in the second photo.) Outfit was Shimano Sienna 1000 with 4lb Berkley Vanish Flurocarbon on a 2kg Silstar Crystal Powertip. Anyway see for yourselves below! Cheers , Blayne First fish Second fish
  7. im leaving in half an hour, im going to fish the sunset hopefully untill about 8:30-9. anyway see yas there. im in the tinny with the suzuki 8hp engine. me and the will be in the boat. cheers, blayne
  8. yeah its going to be a hot one today for sure, can feel it already! hopefully will turn the bass on, maybe we will get a storm later on, that should work a treat before it hits with the humidity rising. thats ok rzep, i understand thanks for the advice Tony, yeh those dipshits in ski boats annoy me aswell. do they obbey the 8 knot signs? down furher in south creek they obbey them, as soon as they get near the 8 knot sign they slow right down so its not so bad! cheers, Blayne
  9. Gday, This topic is a bit of a repeat of one from yesterday. Im fishing the Nepean this arvo from about 4pm onwards. Ill be putting the boat in at the ramp in the reserve so ill be leaving before the gates shut at 9pm. Anyone else fishing there? Im thinking of heading up through the narrows and looking for some surface action with poppers, maybe the bass will co-operate this time around! Cheers Blayne
  10. im going up tommorow arvo with the anyone interested in coming
  11. ok yeah im looking on the map as we speak. I put the boat in then go upstream under the M4 bridge and keep going a bit of a distance. Then I can see where Glenbrook Runs in to the right. Keep going past that and the river tightens right up, so I take it this is the narrows? And what times is the ramp open there? I heard that it opens at sunrise and closes at sunset from the Council? Is there a speed limit up there so the knobs in the ski and speed boats cant go screaming through? Up near south creek the speed limit is 8 knots in some parts which keep the D!CKHEADS away! Cheers for the help, ive got a bit of an idea now i think, Blayne
  12. gday fellas, ive been out a couple of times further downstream and got nothing! i keep hearing people fishing past the narrows and the gorge, where are the narrows and the gorge? if i put my boat in at the ramp there just off the m4 which direction do i head? left or right from the ramp ? (upstream or downstream)? im keen to get amoungst the bass but just cant seem to score my first one. cheers, blayne
  13. yeh its a bit of a bummer but ill keep at it. im thining of going up to the nepean next time around the narows of the river up past the bridge. the water where i was fishing the other day was so muddy like you wouldnt believe. cheers, blayne
  14. Gday, I fished for bass this arvo. Put the boat in at South Creek boat ramp and then drove out into the main river and headed upstream past the bridge and around the bend. Used Black Cicada poppers around all the fallen tree's and banks for absolutely nothing! Decided after about 3 hours of poppers to change to spinnerbaits and spin around the weed patches for absolutely nothing! After and hour or 2 of that I changed to a nice deep diving stump jumper and trolled around submerged trees and drop offs for absolutely nothing! All in all a boring session with no fish whatsoever, but the scenery was nice I suppose. Cheers , Blayne
  15. Cheers Mr and Mrs Swordfisherman! Thats a great help, I will go up there the next chance I get for sure! Im pretty Geed up for it already! I have to say this is THE BEST fishing forum bar none! Blayne
  16. I didnt end up going up there. I went down to Apple Tree Bay instead because I wasnt sure there was fish at South Creek. I will go up there for sure next chance I get then. Has anyone caught any decent bass there recently? And whats a good technique there? Poppers or trolling or what? Ive bought some Kokoda "The Bat" cicada poppers in black. Apparently they are the goods for Bass late in the evenings. What do you think?
  17. Gday, Anyone fished South Creek Windsor, Hawkesbury River lately? I found it in the boat ramp section of the forum and it looks fairly fishy. is it salt, brackish or fresh water there? I want to have a fish for some bass tommorow afternoon, does this place hold any bass? Cheers Blayne
  18. This was the smallest baby snapper I have ever seen. As you can see i caught it on a Gulp minnow grub in pumkinseed colour, which is still in its mouth. Also had a few dramas with the pull starter on the motor which is why the cover is off. All good now though, just a jammed actuator cable!
  19. YEH I WAS USING THE PUMKINSEED COLOUR, ITS PRETTY STRANGE I RECKON BUT ANYWAY
  20. Gday, I took my tinnie up to the Hawkesbury yesterday (21.12.2006) mainly to test out my new Humminbird and also to flick a few soft plastics around. I fished straight accross from Akuna Bay for 2 baby snapper (little reds), one of which was only just longer than the 2inch Gulp minnow grub I was using, and then moved up into Cottage Point and fished the sandflats there for 2 Yellowfin Bream which were both undersized, although one got close at 22cm! All up a pretty average days fishing but enjoyed it all the same! I will post a couple of pics of my catch (which were all released) tonight! Blayne Also I forgot to mention that there were whiting chasing my minnow grub on the flats but they kept ripping the tails of them. Was pretty strange for me to see whiting chasing lures! Yeh with the Gulp minnow grubs, every strike I had either resulted in a hookup or most of the time the tail just got ripped off and I had to replace the plastic with a fresh one. Got very frustrating by the end of the day
  21. I bought a 5.7 amphour 12v rechargeable motorcycle battery for $25. I have wired it up and now I think I am ready to go except for one thing. The instruction manual says to use a 1 amp inline fuse. I have an inline fuse holder in the circuit but Im buggered if I can find somewhere that sells a 1amp fuse? I have a 2 amp fuse but id rather go with what the instructions say to avoid voiding the warranty if something hapens. Thanks for all the replies, I wouldve bought one of the battery kits that were mentioned if id have read the replies sooner today.
  22. cheers hooky, yehp that helps me out alot. i am going down to the motorcycle wreckers to get a battery now. thanks for the swift reply, blayne
  23. Gday, I have a 12ft tinny with an 8hp Suzuki pull start outboard. I have fitted a Humminbird Fishfinder and I wanted to know what battery I can use to power it up? The boat has no other electrical systems so this battery will be running the Fishfinder only. I was thining a 12v motorcycle battery as they're small but how much charge will it have? I want to try and steer clear of a car battery as there aint much room in the little tinny and it will be weighed down but if nothing else will stay charged lone enough I might have to. The engine doesnt have an alternator either so the battery will need to be recharged after each outing. Any suggestions? cheers Blayne
  24. gday mick, i see your from greystanes aswell mate. well i have just got a new humminbird fish finder and im all geared up to take the boat out. just gotta wait till christmas is over! thanks for the tips with the lures and locations, appreciate it alot because otherwise id be pretty much taking a stab in the dark. i will definetly try the gorge. another question, i have 6lb berkley fluorocarbon line on my spinning reel at the moment, do you think this will be suitable for bass fishing?, i use this reel+line for trout and the line was pretty good last time i used it, got a brown just over 1.3kg with it.
