well the best bait is fresh bait..wat u goin for?

    Squid

hey man! i fish land based all the time (although not in your area) an chase squid fairly often, i use jigs (wether it be a $3 or $20 jig) ive done well on both! ive found the biggest key to be the retrivel speed of the jig, i usually wind in faster on my first few casts an get slower trying to keep the jig as close to the bottom as possible without snaging the bottom, and in the water for the longest possible time! ive found this is the biggest key of all, even if im fishing low to deep depths!
  4. still waiting here in the gong! as soon as i get one i asure u it will be going straight back out on my lbg stick undoubtably the best kingy bait around!!

    Squid

mate i have had squid survive for a little while n a bucket while i transported them but only while they felt comfortable in there suroundings n not inking up the place n what not
  6. Nice catch man!! what were the water temps out there? or what were the water temps in close??
  7. for casting longer distance i would say firstly technique, then light line and a rod that has a slightly longer butt and is fairly stiff but has a more felxable tip. i have an FSU and FT 4120 that i can cast quite far they are set up like this nice rods actually lol
  8. hey mate, i personally like to have custom built rods, if i were u i would find a shop that sells rod blanks and go and put a bend in sum and see if u like the feel of them, u can get a rod that suits u quite well this way and can also work out cheap too depending on wat blank u go for and wat hardware or course, some schinder glas blanks are quite cheap and feel pretty good i have a MT 6144 that does pretty well for a genral purpose rod although im not familiar with the reel u have but i find it easy to balance outfits like this and get excatly wat u want.
  9. thanks for the info people! especialy bout the kings off beecroft! cheers matty
  10. ^^^ glad you had a happy ending! the amount of trailers i see with seised bearings or snaped studs is unbeliveable..lol! remember a little preventative maintanaice goes along way! putting exposed metal parts into salt water then letting them sit there for god knows how long then driving them isnt the best..lol i wonder how many boat trailers i will see on the side of the road these summer holidays...
  11. hahah thats a funny story! i would yell out n wake him up jus to see his reaction!
