  1. Hi

You are going to need a kids wading pool, one with the rigid no inflatable walls and a petrol water pump plus a salt water source. You are better off just catching it, pinning it and sending it straight back out.

  2. First thing to do is go jigging with someone who has a good sounder. You have to find the fish, you can blind fish or wait for the fish to turn up, good technique is not going to help you if there are no fish. I have taken novices out on my boat with no technique at all and they have still caught fish.

If there are no fish, move on or search carefully on known grounds until you find some. I love my Furuno because since I have had it I have rarely come home from jigging with no fish.

  3. I have a 540f similar hull, good handling boat, deep hull so good on the plane, not to choppy. I have been to the shelf on good days no problem. Not too rocky when at rest. Good thing is its still easy to tow, they can be handled by one person relatively easily. They are a little narrow compared to some others but the sides are really deep so you never feel like you could fall over the side. You need to think about battery placements and anything heavy when you initially set up as it can affect a little bit of lean on the boat. I never really use the cuddy as mostly its for fishing but with the family out the cuddy is good. Also if you get one over the front which you may get eventually I don't think as much water would come into the boat. Minimum power really has to be 115. I you want to tow stuff I would go 130 or you could run 2 props with a 115 to pull out of the water easier. I have a 115 but you can always have more power!

  4. Dogtooth are not actually a Tuna, more like a giant bonito so you can't really make a direct comparison with the Tuna family.

good work there fellas definatly a good day out there and good fish

as well better than sitting at the office oozing at the mouth over the photos

ive caught all species of tuna and i think dogtooth definately the hardest fight

with yellowfin coming a close second.

  5. Yes the torque would be ok. You want to look at cm per retrieve as much as the ratio. I use a trinidad 20 6 to 1 and that is ok on your average king under the metre mark so I would think the torque would be ok. If you step up to the tn40 narrow the ratio is lower but the spool is bigger so its all relative. I would think the star drag is the way to go as it should be a bit lighter and simpler. Don't see many people using lever drags as their first choice for jigging. I have never seen anyone buy but I'm sure someone does.

I haven't heard any reviews on the torque so I can't really speak for the quality.

  6. Turn down or up the gain till you have some clutter on the screen. Then got to colour erase and run the percentage up until weak echo's disappear. I generally run mine at 25 to 30%. At different depths you should start the process from scratch but I haven't found that it makes too much difference.

  7. If you really want to fish heavy tackle braid, two best knots are FG knot and Yacutan. You want to put some braid to mono first, then to swivel, then to leader. If tied well these are over 100% knot strength. 80lb leader you can still use probably 4 turn uni knot. Once you get heavier probably nail knot depending on the line you are using. If you tie these knots well you will will never have a failure. I never have, had swivels fail though so use good quality swivels as they can let you down!

  8. That anchor is called the malloolaba pick. Its popular in queensland I think and is probably the best reef anchor from what I have heard. I have one but haven't used it much.

  9. I spent the money on a good popper and got a result the first time out. I was about $60 and is a blooping popper so no need for heaps of speed. Caught this on a Sydney ledge on the weekend.

Weighs about 100gms and got some big owner trebles on it which were never coming out.

  10. The hard reality is your second hand products are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, no matter how much you paid for them. Some people just want too much, some things are just harder to sell and you have to wait longer for the right buyer.

Its like when people say I spent x amount on my house so it should be worth so much more when they want to sell it. That has no relevance. The only thing that counts is what someone is willing to pay and or getting them to pay that amount.

My 2 cents working in Sales the last 20 years.
