Went out on the Hawkesbury saturday arvo, launched from Apple tree.Doing a fair bit of renovation down at bobbin head and the road to Apple tree. Anyway, pulled up at peach trees and let a few lines out.Only been there about 15 mins when my mates reel goes off.He always talks up his catch before it gets to the surface "it feels pretty good hey", "geez hes putting up a fight".Just some of the usual lines i hear. Well to my surprise he rips in a 45cm Trevally, a gem and easily the biggest Trev we have caught in the Hawkesbury.Caught on bait shop squid. After that great start we thought we might have more luck but it wasnt to be.Didnt catch anything else.Still it was a great day to be out on the water.Portable BBQ got more work than the landing net but thats ok. Heres the fish

Dont park down the bottom of the car park, park as close to the ramp as you can.I was there not long ago and when we came back about 2 am the gates at the bottom of the car park and the gates out front of the kiosk were locked. Lucky there was a gap in-between the bollards on the grass we could get through. The main gates to get out of apple tree were not locked. Not sure if this happens all the time, but keep your eye out and park up near the ramp if you are night fishing.

Most of the cheaper inverters can produce around 600-800w max.A small electric heater could be anywhere from 750-2000w Cold nights i go with the double beanie, double sock....but have been known to have my hands and/or feet over the camping stove in hairtail season. Stove is great for ripping up some hot choc aswell.

Those Hairtail are weird things, my father in-law caught a 15kg, 1.8m monster at Brooklyn in only 6m of water.Went back to the same spot the next weekend and caught another 3 smaller ones.This was only about a month ago.
