  1. Well headed out to BB just for a flick around to catch some flatties and to gather some early morning squid managed 3 calamari and then moved onto flatties. Spent 3 hrs flicking soft plastics, blades, all sorts and not even one bite all around towra and kurnel. So moved over to deeper water with the paternoster rigs on the north side of Bare Island kept drifting through a "supposed" bait ball, getting these weird bites and losing all of our baits to only realise when a few arrow squids surfaced that it was them that was stealing all of our baits so changed the top hook of the paternoster to a squid jig, dropped back down to 12m and chaos soon followed all up within 15 minutes managed 5 arrows. Also caught a nice sized occy and 2 flathead on the paternoster rig heres the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HgRI89QPq0
  2. https://www.youtube.com/user/m1croe Good channel for Botany bay
  3. Yowie it appears you are right there was no damage to my leader, to my shame i admit it appears to be that my knots weren't the best. It was definitely a jewfish though
  4. Well they say big fish only come around once in a while and boy did i stuff this one up . Hit BB with my dad took out my younger brother also which is one of his first time fishing and was great fun teaching him. 2:30pm went after yakkas at the tugs not one in sight at all which was interesting, moved over to kurnell to gather some squid managed two and a good bait sized cuttlefish. Anchored up at our jewie spot at about 4:30 and stuffed around with the smaller fish, catching plenty of small trevs, bream, snapper, sweep and pike. Night time started to creep up so threw out one live squid and a butterflied sweep.Nothing bar catching the odd pike. 45 minutes pass, Dads(crazycol) butterflied rod has some weight and a little big of a fight then wrapped itself around the reef and thats the end of that story. Look over towards my live squid to just see the rod tip bent over and pulsing (i had light drag on at the time) fish taking no line, Pick up the rod tighten drag set the hooks and were onto a jewie (nice weight) staying deep head shakes one small run, "tighten drag a little bit dont want to get reefed) start to lift the fish from the bottom making good progress(nice strong headshakes, excitement builds) just before we could see the fish it turns around and takes off like a steam train. Aaaaaaand bang, There it goes. Stayed out for another hour with no luck.
  5. Hey guys deciding need a little change from the normal, Is it worth targeting whiting in BB i have never really seen reports on whiting from BB. If so where do i start?
  6. Great catch guys really, awesome job, after breaking a milestone like that what's next
  7. I completely know what you mean motohead it is frustrating. I find it impossible to produce fish in the bay if you just target one species. Target a few species, bream, flatty, Silver trevs even kings find out which species is the go on the day and go from there.
  8. yeah it was great to get a king on the salina it performed great, And watching the rods buckle over whilst trolling looked awesome also, just a shame we didn't have the go pro the only time we didn't have it. Man i would have loved to get a king closer to the size you guys always catch we were on both the bottom and the top. X-rap slash bait 2-4ft and the x rap deep diver 6metres Kingie also caught on 20lb braid with a 25lb leader
  9. haha thanks alot its a shame that you cant leave your traps out and fish somewhere else, and when you say lose condition, you mean the flavour of the crab?
  10. Recently purchased some crab traps and really wanting to gather some info on crabbing for blue swimmer crabs in botany bay before i head out. Im aware of the rules and regulations surrounding crabbing, Just want to find out if blue swimmers are ample all year round, what weather conditions are best, baiting how long i leave the traps out and locations on where abouts is best
  11. search for the mother flathead? Biggest flatty wins? or most caught and released flathead over 50cm… sounds challenging
  12. My dad (crazy col) went out fishing on saturday and had a pretty good day by the looks of things seems he's worked out the secret to silver trevally. He anchored up at the wharf this time instead of driving past the long line of boats and managed a good haul of silver trevally and a nice flatty. Caught on cubes, and the flatty and a few trevs caught on vibes. biggest went 40cm
  13. Get a pole shove it in the ground tie your burley pot to it, and the pots not going anywhere just up and down in the wash
  14. Hey formosan great to see you hammering all species of fish out there, from kings to Snapper to Hairtail is there any fish you can't catch? BTW im crazy cols son
  15. Really? how does that go do you get enough height to view the rod tips, do you have any videos i could check this out on?
  16. Is it worth me buying the pole mount accessory for the go pro or finding some other with silicone or making a platform and clipping it into the platform
