  1. Just curious to know if any raiders have had any luck on these reefs. Every time I've fished them I just find them really unproductive. Are they doing the job they were meant to do when they were put down there. Cheers for any replies

  2. Went for a quick squid sesh after work last night in the hacking and managed some bait size arrow squidies and suprisingly managed to jag a blue swimmer. It was only a small fella so I let him go

  3. Hey champ

Mate Im no expert but seem to do alright at times. If you'd like to go for a squid sometime I'm more then happy to go and maybe show you a few things. Biggest piece of advice I can give is don't get to into the hype of Japanese techniques. I see people whipping rods around with no idea cause they seen some footage on YouTube. Stick to the basics for now. Slow retrieves with a lift and let it sink. If squid are around they will take it. Squid are not as smart as people think. They are on this planet to eat and breed then die. Life span of around 12 months

  4. hey champ

im a spray painter by trade and there is a couple ways of doing it. depending on how much you want to spend, and how you want the end result to look and last. if it was me, cause its only a small part to paint (i assume) i would just sand it down. wipe down with prepsol (wax & grease remover) then apply a wash primer. a wash primer is a type of etch primer used for aluminium. if you cant get wash primer then just use an ordinary etch primer that you can get at supercheap/bunnings. then apply your topcoat of paint. too easy :biggrin2:

  5. Been overseas for a while so i thought since i got a few days before i go back to work ill get out for a fish

packed the boat, picked up two mates and we're off to boatany. headed off to grap some livies and fill the tank in no time. great i was thinking. fished molli for awhile with no hits so decided to move to a spot near the runway but along the way one of my mates yells out dolphins and im like yeah alright, seen em all before. no he says its a sh@tload of em. i looked over to see an army of dolphins swimming towards the runway. i slowed right down then kicked it out of gear so the prop wouldnt hit any of them. they were everywhere now in front of us, behind us, next to us. at least a hundred or more. was one of the best sights ive ever seen. incredible

we watched them till they passed the runway and headed towards brighton. never seen them go that far into the bay, and that many

anyone got a reason for this???

back to fishing. we set up at the runway an let baits go down and again not much to tell.

we ended up being plagued by slimeys and only 3 port jacksons and 3 small flatties which were all released. not a great day fishing but an amazing morning on the water.

ill try upload a video later on

    cheers

  7. Hi guys

Just a quick report from a recent trip.

Went back to poland to see the family for the last month. was living at my grandmothers village on the farm so fishing was out of the picture (at least i thought so) spoke to some locals and managed to find

a place to have a fish for some trout. Im a salty fisho, so having a crack at some fresh water fish in another country got me excited. not knowing much about trout myself the locals gave me some advice on where to go and bait to use and techniques to catch them. so i was off with high hopes to catch my first trout.

soon as i got down to the river i could see some good sized trout swimming around. water was so clear.

things went a bit slow to start as the fish seemed to spook easily, but after a few cast i managed to pull one in. awesome i couldnt get the smile off my face. my first freshwater fish. she came home for family tea.

managed another two smaller sized ones that i let go. great little arvo of fishing. cant wait to go back next year with my own gear and more time to spend fishing

can anyone tell me what species it is?? im thinking rainbow but unsure

  9. hey guys

like my title says im looking for someone to teach me the basics of rod building.

im looking to start on my first spin rod and would love to see how its done before i try

    and stuff things up.

i have a basic idea on how its all done but would like to see how the guides are wrapped and epoxied.

so if anyone is building a rod at the moment or is about to start a new project it would be nice to have

a look and ask a few questions

    willing to travel

    thanks guys

  10. hey guys and gals

i've recently purchased myself a new hobie sport kayak.

i'm yet to take her out for a spin till i get my new racks for

the car. i was just doing some searches and i've been seeing two

ways of loading it onto racks. some upright with kayak carriers and

some upside down straight onto the racks. was just wondering if i could get any raiders

with a hobie or similar shaped yak opinion on how they transport theres.

also im only 60kg and 5'7 if that may play a roll

    thanks everyone
